Dropped into the information centre to have a look and see what was about Tumut and the surronding towns, The staff memeber was amazing she knew so much and answered all our questions and even gave us a couple of local tips. Wouldn't have seen a few of the things we did had we not gone into the centre.

Since I was here a few years ago the old gold mine site at Adelong Falls has had a huge revamp. There are now several information boards placed around the viewing platform overlooking the site with various points of interest highlighted on them and photos of some of these places. For those young enough or fit enough it is possible to walk down and across the creek to access the old Gold mine site. One can actually walk up the other side of the creek to where gold was mined and then follow its journey down through the sluices, through the stamper site and other relics to where the water flowed back into the creek.

Tumut River Brewing Co is a really small micro brewery with big plans. Right now it a great place to sample some great locally made craft beers and hopefully in the not to distant future it will be a great reason to come to Tumut all on its own. Come in say g'day and enjoy a couple of cold ones!
A real winner in the craft brewery space with a great selection of beers packaged for home consumption. The Ginger Ninja alcoholic ginger beer is a real winner. Worth a visit when in Tumut but ring first as the brewery is not always open.

Blowering Dam has a lot to offer, whether you want to set up camp on the foreshore and just relax or do a bit of fishing, or if you just want to take a stroll along the dam wall ( a bit of it or the whole 740 metres). From there you can enjoy the views to the south over the stored water or to the north over the Tumut river, Blowering Power Station and the recreation area. There is a beautiful park at the base of the dam wall with abundant sheltered picnic tables and a number of BBQ's around the park as well. The park was very colourful with trees showing their autumn foliage but in warmer weather these trees would be providing ample shade for visitors.

With limited time left, and not having yet fresh-water fished, I headed to my most northerly location, which happened to be Tumut. With no accommodation and a realisation I actually didn't even know how to start fly-fishing although I had owned an unopened kit for about 4 months or so. A particular ad caught my eye - "Ring Tony for a nice relaxed friendly talk". I'm a good procrastinator, but chose to ring then and there. At the end of the chat, I had booked a lesson (for that afternoon!) and had some accommodation at his and Renaa's Sefton House. I feel very fortunate to have made that phone call, as it turned out, because I was coming in with some diabilities such as cardiomypathy and a frozen shoulder from earlier radio-therapy. What Tony imparted to me was a technique that is very efficient, conserves energy, and once I master it, will allow me to fish for hours without fatigueing. Moreover, my posture is likely to improve, my breathing was noticably better, deeper but more relaxed . Tony worked with me to ensure I understood the "kinetics" of the action involved, so that practice of perfect will make perfect. This was highlighted by Tony demonstrating the effort and wasted energy involved in the more traditional techniques. I don't believe in destiny, but it sure seemed like it after contacting Tony and having that first lesson. I can see the spinner rod being relegated to the back of the cupboard. I look forward in continuing my new-found fly-fishing enthusiasm. Thank you Tony, for being part of this.

I went there with my wife to check it out. Great single track and not to technical. A generous amount of climbing met with an equal amount of flowing downhill. Only checked out a couple of the main loops and will defiantly be back to explore more.
