Stressed? Bored of your job? Tired of dull citylife? Don't worry! Salla Reindeer Park offers an unique escapes in to the Wilderness. Run in to the untouched forest with our huskies and reindeer and enjoy silent and magical Lappish nature.
We came only for one reason to Salla and that was the reindeer race at this park! The unique thing about it, is that it's the only place in Finland were you can try the reindeer race yourself! With some skis behind the reindeer, you are pulled by the reindeer. It was an amazing experience! And it's not that they only let you go once, you get to go several times!
Like with every activity in the park, you get warm clothes (an overall, gloves and shoes). The people who took care of the reindeers were really friendly and told us a lot about the reindeer, it was really interesting!
It was good fun and totally worth it coming here!

Ski Resort: 15 Slopes, 6 lifts, Skirental and service, Skischool, Sport Shop, Cafe.*Salla - In The Middle of Snowhere*
We stayed in a beautiful wooden lodge (cabin) in February 2018 for a week, having flown to Salla with TUI and booking our holiday with crystal ski holidays. In short, this place is a must!! We had the best time ever! In detail, the lodge was clean, warm and spacious enough for 2 adults for a week. Crystal ski coaches stop at the supermarket on the way so you can buy everything you need for a week (put shopping bags in your hand luggage) then they loan you a sledge so you can get your shopping to your front door! We were able to keep the sledges for the week so like 2 big kids we obviously went off to find a steep hill to play. Happy to report that all adults become big kids on this holiday. It’s what it’s all about! We did all of the winter activities that others have mentioned. I would recommend them all. Even if you have all the right clothes I would loan the layers that they offer too. They easily fit over your own ski jackets and trousers. We also had a day on the slopes. You really can do a little or a lot here. We loved going to the pub or the ice bar in the evening for a drink and a game of pool or darts. Everything is an easy 5 minute walk. We went on 2 longer walks to the reindeer park (where most activities are held) and to a big frozen lake. Yes it can be cold but not if you wear the right clothes. It’s all about layers and a constant pair of gloves and a hat. I have raynauds (poor circulation) and I survived anything from -9 to -24 C. I can’t comment on the restaurants because we were so happy in our little lodge that we didn’t use them. Our lodge had a sauna and forks for toasting marshmallows on the open fire. They really have thought of everything here. What are you waiting for? Get yourself on a unique winter adventure that will give you a million happy memories to cherish.

You can't have a good Salla visit without soending some time with Bart. Hope you see the light -:)

Salla Museum of War and Reconstruction is located in a building that was originally made 1948 for railway workers and their families. The Museum's exhibition tells about the history of Salla municipality which was known as Kuolajärvi until year 1936. Salla was involved in the Second World War (1939–1944) and suffered heavy destructions. An enormous effort was made to rebuild the municipality – by the year 1950 nearly 400 new farms, many schools and a church were built.
...the motto of Salla isn't lying to you, the small city is really in beautiful Wilderness of north-eastern Lapland. It is an exelent staring point for treks since it has many shops where you can find everything for your adventure.
