This is a wonderful museum with many old buildings in the area. Many are made completely out of wood and relocated here from the local area. The main entrance is one the side road of the main road. The initial entrance from the road does not look so nice but once inside the buildings are great. The hours currently are 10-6 and we paid 3 LEI each for entry and 10 LEI to take photographs (a fee still common in Romania). We were able to go inside of a few buildings in our visit in October. We were told more buildings are open in the summer. I was surprised to see so many buildings. This is worth a visit if you are in the area and don’ be discouraged by the way it looks from the side of the main road.

The best zoo in the east european region. I visited Izmir zoo 3 years ago and this one is better. Many reptiles, monkeys, snakes and other exotic animals and fishes are exhibited. This zoo was rebuilt two years ago with the help of European Union. There are some bears and wolves, deers, emu, lions, tigers and many birds. The space is wide with clean sidewalks, and the best safety barriers.
Don't forget to bring something to eat or drink, because inside there is no restaurant or other shops. There are some shops near the entrance from where you can buy something to eat or drink.

Tipical Romanian house in Valcea area during the 19th century, important becouse Anton Pann lived there for a while; he was an important man of culture who gave us, among other things(religious music, poems, folklore gatherings) the music of the actual national hymn.

Not only a library, this is a true museum in it's own right! You can see beautiful paintings and sculptures, there is art everywhere you look. But the most remarcable element is the absolutely breath taking stained glass window dome shaped roof. This is an architectonic wonder, as no other project of it's kind has been attempted in Europe. It is called "Facerea lumii" (- Genesys) and it is something out of this world! Of course, being a library, the access is free. If you pass Ramnicu Valcea, you must see this!

We came here with three kids ages 11, 7 and 3. It was 25 lei per person on a Saturday and hard to park. The 3 and 7 year old did not have to pay. The public pool nearby was very crowded and much cheaper. The pools are of decent size and clean. There are many plastic chairs but not a lot of shade. There is a nice restaurant and then two smaller ones more like bars or fast food. The hotel behind had rooms for 30 dollars-- close to what we paid to enter the pool. I found that amusing. Anyhow it is a great way to spend a hot day. The zoo is also just minutes away by car and you can spend 30 minutes there as well if you have kids.
