Skorrahestar offers unique horse riding tours in East Iceland. Ride up and over the steep Mountains, along the lush green Valleys and race across the sandy Beaches on well trained Icelandic horses. The deserted fjords and the folklore of the area comes alive through storytelling with an experienced farmer/teacher as your guide. You get to experience our homemade international cuisine with a touch of Icelandic tradition as you become a member of the Skorrahestar family.
My daughter and I had no horse riding experience. Nevertheless we had a fantastic time. Our guide was amazingly nice, competent and patient. She picked really calm horses, explained us the basics of horse riding, and after a few minutes of training inside the corral, we were off for a tour. She reassured us that if we wanted to, she could tie our horses to hers, and I thought that would likely have to happen. Absolutely not: we got to ride across the beautiful surrounding landscape, climbed up or went down hills, crossed rivers (!), even tried the Icelandic gait, all in less than 2 hours. And during the tour, our very nice guide explained us some of the Icelandic traditions and environment. I never imagined we could do all this while being beginners, and never got scared one minute. We ranked this tour at the top of our experiences in Iceland (and we had many great ones).

I went there with my wife and 3 young children. It is a nice hike with lot of interesting things to see for both us and the children and the Páskahellir (Easter Cave) was a big hit for the children.

A renovated building worth admiring in its own right as well as for the history linked to it. The Museum House is home to three excellent and contrasting collections: those of the Museum of Natural History, Tryggvi Ólafsson's Art Collection and Jósafat Hinriksson's Seafaring and Smithy Collection.
Stefánslaug Swimming Pool is an outstanding outdoor swimming pool with hot tubs, sauna and two water slides. Located in the hills of Neskaupstadur, the view from the pool over the Nordfjördur fjord is splendid and the building itself gives great shelter for those who like to lay in the sun.
