Played here on way to Fota Island last Sunday. I absolutely loved this course! We were given a very warm welcome by the member who was volunteering behind the bar. The course was in splendid condition . Hated the hole with the concealed pond: be warned!

One of europes major showcaves, discovered in 1833 by michael condon who was quarrying limestone when his crowbar slipped into a crevasse. He removed a few boulders to retrieve the bar, next minute he found himself looking down into a vast network of passages and caverns. In order to protect the caves natural state guided tours were quickly organised. Tours were conducted through the cave by candlelight untill 1972 when it was the first cave in Ireland to be electrified. Today on the guided tour you visit three massive caverns in which you are surrounded by indescribable dripstone formations and one of europes finest columns the inspiring Tower of Babel which stands some 9m in height. Mitchelstown Cave is situated midway between Cahir and Mitchelstown. Take exits 11 or 12 on the M8. Sat Nav. DMS 52,18'20.7" 8, 06' 31.4"W Minimum 2 adults for a tour.
Definitely one of the most under commercialized tourist attractions that I have ever been at. Arriving at the caves I was not expecting much but I was proven wrong. This is one of the best caves I have ever been in. The rock formations, stalactites and stalagmites are fantastic. Also the guide that took us through the caves was excellent, knowledgeable and entertaining. I would highly recommend a trip to see these caves.

My wife & I stayed from 30th October to 2nd November, the room was excellent with a view of the Mountains showing the clouds sweeping down over the Mountains like a waterfall .waking up to that view each morning realy sets you up for the day staff very friendly & helpful .dinner was served in the bar .a few dislikes, when finished the dinner no place to sit besides the bar could do with a lounge ,or if they built a sunroom outside attached to the bar this would make the hotel rate 100%
The other item is we were there for 3 dinners & the menu NEVER changed
WILL GO BACK AGAIN & AGAIN

I have relatives who live along the river. It is a beautiful walk. You can feed the ducks, watch the rowers from the rowing club, walk past the style into the pastures and along the shores of the river for a long ways. Very quiet and peaceful.

Interesting site to see. Small but intriguing. Unfortunately the site is in a dangerous place for parking. There is not actually a designated parking area except for a little space outside the site which will hold two vehicles at most. It is right on the road side and extreme cation is important.

Excellent educational facility, really well presented, very enjoyable and very informative 'outdoor classroom' ecology experience. Annette was our tour guide for the day and gave us great information on the history, flora and fauna of raised bogs. Would recommend this to young and old, for anyone with an interest in the ecology of our natural resources. Very enjoyable day!
