A visit is worthwhile all throughout the year: wolves, bears, lynxes, owls and many other native animals can be discovered. The underwater world also has a lot to offer: aquatunnel, glassy fish stairs and a 30 meter long aquarium wall inspire young and old. Have you ever walked through a river without getting wet? It's possible in Wildpark-MV! But there is much more to experience: oversized insects in the meadows world, the SUBTERRA adventure trail with a bog mummy or guided adventure tours through the 200-hectare park. There are also great events all year long, especially do not miss the wolf hikes in the twilight. Opens daily from 9 am, also on Sundays and public holidays. Free parking.

We were visiting this park while staying at lake Müritz.
It is a wild park with an outdoor area that houses a number of (formally) local animals. My favorite were the wolfs, which have a large area for themselves. There are wooden footbridges that allow you to safely observe them for a large part of their area. Same is true for the cats like the lynx.
I would highly recommend you to follow the feeding tour (check the web site). That way you learn more, but most importantly you are guaranteed to see the animals. Especially for shy animals like the lynx this is a big plus.
The indoor area is also interesting, even though we had bad luck because their river bed display underwent a major revision and was therefore closed down. But we still enjoyed the other parts and in particular the microscopes that could freely be used.
The restaurant in the main building is not so great. Outside the noon timeframe they only have a very limited selection of food. It basically is the classical case of sausage with french fries.

The castle is a princely building of the 16th century constructed for the purpose of representation and as a residence of the Duke. Güstrow Castle offers its visitors gloriously decorated rooms and a permanent exhibition of a medieval collection, Renaissance art, hunting and pomp weapons, ancient and contemporary glass, GDR paintings, ancient pottery and contempary art. One of the Exhibitions is dedicated to the short reign of Wallenstein in Güstrow.

We were very moved by the scuplture of the Angel (otherwise The Hoverer) especially given its history and that of the artist Kathe Kollwitz whose image it is supposed to use. Do some background Reading before visiting to gain the full experience. Cathedral staff very pleasant and helpful and there are some other amazing things to be seen.

This old church is slowly being restored. It contained a centuries old clock that chimes regularly and runs perfectly. The entire structure dates from the Middle Ages and has some very interesting burials that are centuries old. At noon every day, there is a brief prayer service along with a brief organ interlude. Worth it alone just to hear the organ!

The church is very nice and the exhibition is very interesting and there are many sculptures. The Price is okay. Barlach is a very important person in Güstrow.

Barlach's sculptures are really moving. The Atelier contains some of his most striking works. A great little excursion.

The kids had expectet a Water Park, and got a bit disapointet. There are no waterslides, but two bassins - one for normal swinning, and one with warmer water with a few attractions such as streaming water in a round bassin and spa.
The saunaconditions however are very nice. 5 saunas are available - one where you can scrub yourself with ex. clay (one euro extra), and four other nice saunas with different temperatures.
There were plenty of space, since there weren´t much people.
The sauna area are for both sexes, and bathingsuits are not alowed - something our teenageboy felt quiet hard to adapt to.
The staff is very nice - welcoming and helpful.
Visit Oase for the sauna - not for the bassins.
