We went here after a snow scooter drive from the Lapland Hotel Olos, I would suggest you do the same. A lot of traditional lappish food - we had a great slow-smoked salmon and Reindeer chips and excellent pancakes for dessert.

Swiss Cafe Konditoria is a coffee house in the center of Muonio. It offers a large selection of special coffees, Swiss hot chocolates and a vast selection of fresh cakes, sweets and also salty pies home made in the own show confectionery. It also carries a selection of local souvenirs and handicraft. The gallery of local photographer Thomas Achermann is also integrated in the coffee shop, showing photographs of the local Lapland landscape and the amazing Aurora Borealis - the Northern Lights.
We stopped in Muonio for a break and juts by coincidence found that we were next to Swiss Cafe.
It is surprising to find this kind of place in Muonio. Positively!
The cakes were great and the coffee as well. Service was very friendly and quick. Naturally the pricing is above the general level in Muonio, but still there are not many competitors. So, why not to have higher prices for a good service and concept?
I recommend this to anyone who drives thru Muonio - Something unique in Muonio!

There isn't much to do in Muonio proper besides doing nature-related tours. It really is a secluded village, with an eerie feeling of isolation, that's maybe why discovering that the village actually hosts a Thai restaurant is quite the surprise.
The restaurant, situated just in the same building as the tourist information/souvenir shop/information center offers really spicy Thai food, both as a buffet, take away, and in more subtle ways.
The food there is quite cheap, tasty, and if you take the bus Tromsö/Rovanieni (or Kilpisjarvi/Rovaniemi) the driver generally stops there and you´ll have enough time to grap a solid take away.
p.s: despite what they claim, this isn´t the world´s northernmost thai restaurant. There´s one in Tromsö, much more north. But this one in Muonio indeed feels much more like the world's northernmost than its Tromsö counterpart in its urban setting.

This newly re-opened small lunch restaurant lies about 1 km to the south from downtown Muonio. Don't let the slightly rugged facade mislead you as this hidden gem lies behind an unmanned gas station. This restaurant offers lunch with good quality and several options to choose from during midday hours and à la carte (also pizzas and hamburgers) other times. The menu is, however, rather short, for instance including only a couple traditional Lappish dishes.

Traditional Lapland-style food made of local ingredients. Different kinds of meat and fish dishes are available. Also a cafeteria.

The restaurant offers great view over Muonio landscape, with the feel improved by the fireplace. The menu was quite limited though and the prices on the high side. Te service was good, though
