Worth visiting, nice break from grungy Guadalajara as it was clean, quiet, and interesting. I found people to be respectful, smiling, and super helpful. Best sites were the main city square and its Cathedral, and the Templo del Calvario. Best food was at Linda Lagos in the Lagos Inn overlooking the main Cathedral.

This temple is a miniature replica of St. Peter's Cathedral in Rome. The front is made with rose stone with impressive columns and statues on top. You can enjoy the view of the city from this beautiful temple. A must see for visitors of Lagos de Moreno.

We had no experience on horse-back riding but my teenage daughter was very eager to do it while visiting Lagos de Moreno (beautiful town by the way)
The "cabalgata" (horse-back riding tour ) was a 3 hour ride and regardless of my concerns it was pure joy. The horses were easy to ride and the tour surpassed all of our expectations. We saw countrymen, traditional farms, and the real beautiful Mexico with very nice people and the most professional tour guides, who happen to be the owners of the "haciendas". It was real people doing their real thing and sharing the experience with you. My daughter fell in love with the horses, I fell in love with the country!

Sacred Art Museum

I do really enjoy Spain's Golden Age Paintings, is one of the greatest in our history. Mexican Sacred Art has that "thing" from The Baroque, but in a much different way. Archangels, Angels, Priests, Cardinals and Political figures always adorned by the grace of their painters. Recommended for international history geeks, art amateurs and students. Lagos de Moreno is not a place, its peaceful and interesting, a very Mexican small town.

Teatro Jose Rosas Moreno

This outstanding theatre was built over 200 years ago and it was just totally renovated and it looks like a fine european jewel right at the center of Lagos de Moreno. It looks like a small and colorful replica of the Paris Opera House. There used to be a beautiful fresco on the ceiling but unfortunately it was painted over by a Mexican mural. What a loss but it is still a must see. I highly recommend it.

Balneario El Paraiso

Well.... It is not UNIVERS-L STUDIOS but it was quite good! You can bring your own food, drinks! Even BBQ! My friends bought some steaks before arriving, coal, salt, beers, some sauces and tortillas (of course!) Small pools, big pools, water was very clean, and local management has a small store with snacks, sodas and other goods. Please, be noted that there is no public transportation around here; you need to get by car and know the road beforehand. Recommended to visit during hot seasons.
