Fishzone Sportfishing

We fished Kuala Rompin for 2 days with Fishzone who are based in Singapore but do fishing charters to Kuala Rompin. Dominic, the owner, was already committed to another group of guys on another boat...no problem, his skipper Jerry and deckie John were awesome and really looked after us - nothing was too much trouble. They worked as a team and made sure we maximised our chances of catching fish and having a great day all round.
The trip exceeded our expectations, not only in the fishing department (Sails, Marlin, Cobia, Queenfish) but in the overall package.
The transfers from Singapore airport and then back to our Singapore hotel after the trip, were easy, comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. The drivers, were very friendly and even kindly accomodated us with a side trip in JB to purchase a few things and enjoy the night market experience!
We were more than satisfied with the accomodation Dom put us into...NOT the resort nearby, which has terrible reviews from friends who'd stayed there...instead we stayed in a newish modern house, aircon, comfortable beds, space to spread out, TV, wifi etc. The sensational food at the local restaurant was a bonus and Dom made sure our day was planned ahead so everyone knew what was happening and when.
Regarding the food...the restaurant Fishzone frequents is a great choice as you get the indoor/outdoor experience that is so good in a warm climate and the food quality and friendly service is just what you need after a good day's fishing.
Thanks Dom for providing us with a great "Rompin fishing experience".

Bluesails Sportfishing

Reviewed By DSSH2016 - Singapore, Singapore

Golbal anglers come to Rompin, Pahang, Malaysia for bluesails sport fishing particularly in September and October. This is the town where all anglers mainly would converge. On a good day you may have a good fight with more 10 sailfishes from each boat and tired out. Each fight may last about 30 minutes. It is better that you bring along your own tackle equipment with new lines about 50 lbs and balloons. There are no equipment for rent but tackle shops are available. It is about catch and release for sailfish. You can bring up the sailfish for 3 mins only to take a picture. And release immediately for resuscitation in the sea. The fishing boat is built from fibre glass powdered by 2 turbo engine propellers surging about 25 knots. No aircond in the boat but fresh air is always abundant. You will also find other fishes like parrot fish, garoupa, tenggirri (mackerel), toledo, sharks and corbia which you can send to the restaurants to cook. Very fresh indeed. The boatman together with his assistant will take good care of you while you are in his boat providing you with advice to catch the fishes or finding live baits. Lunch is a packaged food like chicken rice and including free flow of mineral water.
It is good to spend 3 days in Rompin: 2 days for fishing and a day for travelling no rush indeed. You can come to Singapore and stay in budget hotels in Chinatown with all the public transports readily available. You should contact an agent who can provide you with an all-in-one package which includes your fishing trip, boat, transport and lodging.
Perhaps all your meals. Do not go to Rompin directly because there no available slots for you. All boats are booked one year ahead. Or by luck you may be able to charter a free whole boat during weekday, but need to pay about US$480 for a day's trip. Departing from Singapore, it may take you about 3.5 hours ride to Rompin. Resorts, motel and homestay are available with aircond rooms clean and spacious.
If you are adventurous, you may want to join those groups who are looking for an angler or two to join their group owning to vacated slots. Check internet or Google for fishing kakis in Singapore.Going to Rompin, it is always good to bring your medicine, incase of stomach upsets, or not used to the sea conditions.
I have been to Rompin for 15 years with my angling friends (Fishing Kakis) and always enjoy the fun fishing and good food around the quality restaurants. Also take away my stress . There are 2 massage parlours to relax your tiredness. Need help let me know.
