The authentic, original Source of the Nile Site, where the British Explorer Speke first discovered the River Nile (of course the Africans knew there was a river, but anyway..). Stand where he stood, take a picture with the monument, go for boatrides across the river nile and into Lake Victoria, see monkeys, monitor lizards, pythons (and maybe even an authentic African Witchdoctor). The site also allows for camping, nature walks, parties and occasions with a truly spectacular nature setting. Ideal for Birdwatching and anyone looking for 1 day tour in the Ugandan Countryside.
The longest river in the world measuring almost 6,700 kms has its source in Jinja a small but beautiful town of Uganda.
The Nile sprouts out of a spring which is just at the mouth of the outlet of Lake Victoria (world’s second largest lake). The spring water mixes with the water of the lake and flows through from Uganda all the way to Egypt and discharges the water in the Mediterranean.
The entire journey of water from the Source to the Delta in Egypt takes about 3 months.
The water is crystal clear and there is plenty of bird life one gets to see at the source. Vervet monkeys and some water lizards are also seen in the river during the boat cruise. Even though Nile crocodiles are the biggest and most famous reptiles in the world but in this part of the Nile there is neither crocodiles nor hippos.
It’s a pity that not a lot is done to develop this area of tourism, which to me was an awesome experience and feeling just to be at the source of world’s longest river.

Not a high waterfall but a fast one with lots of rushing water. The view is amazing and there are plenty of places to enjoy a picnic lunch while watching the water flowing and listening raging Torrent.

The only place in Jinja, where, you can see pythons, crocodiles, turtles and few other reptiles. Place is safe to go. Pythons were very big. And yes even the some other types of snakes you can see there.

This place is secluded, beautiful and quiet, the road leading here is bumpy but so worth it, the landscapes and the clouds so blue.
Take the forest walk also the staff is helpful.
The zipline is not very safe, i have heard stories.
All around good place though.
Worth a visit.
