Experience the magical Istria from the air. Paragliding Tandem flight in Motovun will take you over the magical old town. In a tandem you are able to fly without any previous experience. After a 15 min briefing you get to fly for 30 min with a highly trained instructor, which is the easiest and safest way to experience the thrill of paragliding. All you need are sporting shoes and a long sleeved jacket. Too easy.
There were several aspects to this experience that contributed to its utmost excellence:
1. Day one of attempted flight was not the best weather, but more importantly was not ideal conditions to paraglide. Rather than take our money and give us (and another couple) a suboptimal, or even slightly dangerous, experience, Airie spent nearly two hours with us driving to different locations and attempting to await better flying conditions before ultimately calling it for the day.
2. After our failed attempt at flying, he let us follow him up the road to Motovun, through the resident only section, so that we could park at the top and enjoy the town in all its glory with ease. After politely declining several of our attempts to buy him a beer, we made plans to meet up the next day.
3. On a gorgeous flying day we met Arie at a takeoff spot near Motovun, and finally partook in this unforgettable experience. His instructions were succinct and spot on, and his explanations made for entertaining education in the air, as I marveled at the novel perspective.
4. If you have never been paragliding, like us, you would be foolish to miss out on this chance to fly in one of the top paragliding sites in the world with a friendly and consummate professional!
5. Bonus: Ask him to book you a reservation with his friend Nevio at Toklarija (set course menu, fine dining in the middle of nowhere). You will NOT be disappointed.

For a wander through a beautiful authentic hill-top village, we loved Groznjan. It is set atop a hill not far from Novograd and Motovun. On the day we visited, they were practising opera in a room opening out onto one of the many small squares. It was a sublime experience to stand and listen to the arias being rehearsed accompanied by a grand piano and exquisitely rendered. I could have stayed all day to listen, but our kids quickly lost interest so we moved on. They have urged me to score down the rating as there is not much of excitement for younger children, but for me it was a high spot of our time in Istria.

Wine passion since 1850. Beautiful family winery located in west Istrian hills with a stunning wiew, just 15km from Porec, and 16 km from Novigrad. We offer a unforgetable wine experience with indigenous grape varieties from Istria.
I turned up here at around 4pm and was greeted by a gentleman who told me he didn't speak English. I asked if I could go inside and see the tasting room and he said yes. I wasn't too bothered about tasting wines and just wanted to buy some - but he effectively told me to leave before I got a chance!
The tasting room looked great - i think you pay a small fee to taste the wines but wasn't in there long enough to catch the exact cost. I also noticed that it said "no credit cards" so if you do get past security and are allowed to purchase then bring your kuna's with you.
Reading the other reviews - maybe I was just unlucky with my timings and maybe you should book ahead? Also, I accept I'm at fault for not speaking Italian or German - the chap indicated that he could converse in these languages but I couldn't.
Undeterred, I went to the Rossi winery which is literally just up the road and was met by a charming and knowledgable chap called Phillip. They are open all day until about 8pm. He was a superb host and I tried various wines and grappas. All absolutely excellent and I would have bought much more if I could have got it home easily. They also accept credit cards. So, this is a more than worthy alternative to Arman's.

There plenty of space to have lunch , we bring our own sandwiches and drinks. However we always buy drinks there as well.
Do no miss the music band that goes into the wave pool .. excellent time!
We always go there on the Saturday's as there seems to be less crowd on that day.

The Kozlovic philosophy is embodied in the family's history, a family that knew how to hold together, working towards a common goal; nurturing the value of their toils, effort, resolution and competence...
We didn't manage to book a whole winery tour because the groups were full for the day, but we had tasting (3 glasses of wine for 50 kunas, which is a great price). If you are near, you should definitely stop by.

Arman Marijan family-run vineyard and wine cellar is situated in the vicinity of the city of Porec, in the village of Narduci near Vizinada. The winary is open daily for tastings of all the premium wines produced (Istrian malvasia, teran, muscat, sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, rose duet and cuvee superior (teran, merlot, cabernet). The tasting room and Terrace is an extension of the vineyards with a beautifoul view. At our cellar you can taste all the best original Istrian wines. More to see here.
I've been preparing locations where to bring visitors of my place called Villa Lion's House, located about 2 hours drive from this place. My friend and I got recommendations from wine connoceurs and local restorators about the place itself, Mr. Marjan Arman, owner of this wineyeard and, actually, the wines. We've been positively impressed about place aura, professionalism and friendliness of Mr. Arman who presented the winery and wines himself. Range from sparkling wines and up to sweet desert wines is available, including reds and whites of local and worldwide known grapes. We've bought number of boutles each, and I am looking forward to visit Marjan Arman wineyards in the future.
