Calamuchita Valley

The Calamuchita valley is relaxing and quite beautiful even though we visited immediately after the widespread wildfires. La Cumbrecita is over-rated but still a pleasant spot to kick back for a day; it's also a good base for a few 1-2 hr hikes. Villa Belgrano is a sad attempt to recreate a little bit of Bavaria in Argentina. Regrettably, while it has some nice restaurants the main street is more like a poor attempt at a Disney Theme Park.

This attraction allows visitors to contemplate Villa General Belgrano from a different angle. The climb is tough in principle but runs smoother as you approach the top. We did not take water with as and made a mistake, as there were no places where we could purchase some. We should have carried our mate set, also. The sight was really worth the effort.

The museum and convention center offer an interesting alternative to learn about the origins of the village. The different fairs and festivals held in the premises provide an immersion into mid European culture. The Chocolate and the Viennese-style pastries festivals pose a real threat to your diet.

We visited here once we arrived in the town. They were very helpful in suggesting what we should see during our visit. We also paid the 20 pesos to climb the spiral staircase to the top of the tower to have views over the town and surrounding region. Well worth a visit.
