Turtle Sanctuary Beach

Reviewed By OS_HK1 - Hong Kong, China

Traveled in July with my family of 5. We were there to experience the Perhentian's world renowned diving and weren't disappointed. Some really great things to see but the best underwater scenery (IMO) was left to the snorkel excursion where we were taken to some popular sites. The coral at these sites was some of the best I have ever seen - probably because it was beyond the reach of most snorkellers depth but still very clearly seen from the surface.
The rooms at the resort are comfortable and functional and the cabins/rooms are pretty much right next to the beach (or within a few strides). The resort runs an independent turtle conservation program due to the amount of turtles that lay eggs on the beach. Although they have to return the large propertion of eggs to the Govt they are allowed to keep a small amount for incubating and eventual release back into the sea. It's a well run operation and appears to feature on some UK-based adventure programs as an option for teenagers/school kids to experience. This is great for the kids and raising awareness but beware that it means you may have to share the resort with a large group of school kids who are - in the main - well-behaved if a little excitable :-)

The beach is lovely. Fine white sand with great snorkelling right there with some local friendly black tip reef sharks, plus a floating pontoon a couple of hundred metres out that is great fun to swim to.
In all an enjoyable time and a pleasant stay.

Redang Island

Reviewed By AlvinKyen - Malaysia

Went to redang for short break and a diving lesson. Getting there was easy with an early domestic flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terrenganu. There after on a speed boat at 11am (the only scheduled service) which takes around 45min. As it's an off peak season, the island was rather deserted so that's a good thing to relax! Those who love diving or just a casual snorkeling would like this island. Plenty of PADI certified dive centres there. A good one would bet at the Redang Beach Resort dive centre. The island is still clean and well maintained. Medical facility is available so that's a good thing.

Kapas Island

Kapas means cotton which describes the softness of the sand. Snorkelling here right off the beach was magic. Best place? Walk as far as you can along the beach, up and over the cement stairs and walkways until you are opposite Gemia Island.
Best food is at the Jetty Café - five star meals 10-15RM, also Ompak has good food.

Bukit Kluang Beach

Reviewed By Shahul Hameed S - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

This beach is definitely popular with locals. May locals come here during the weekend for picnic, teenagers come to hang out. There are quite a number of food stalls to buy food. It is a nice beach with a good view. I went to other side of the beach where not many people go and there were no facilities unlike the other end. It was far better and total privacy.

Plenty of eateries such as Nando's, Pizza Hut, Burger King, Secret Recipe and their local Food court. This mall is a savior as for there is nothing much around in terms of food especially. Located 10 minutes drive from Resorts World Kijal, it even has a cinema and bowling alley and entertainment center. A good place to hang out with family. It even has the local grocery / supermart inside the mall for grocery shopping

Masjid Ulul Albab Mosque

Reviewed By NurMuhamad - Sungai Petani, Malaysia

A place you must visit if you come to Jertih. This mosque is very fascinating and the design of it's architecture was inspired by the traditional Malay and Islamic architecture art. You can see a lot of traditional Malay wood carving motiffs in the wall. I was impressed by the architecture. From the resource of Internet, this mosque was built from 80% chengal timber and been known for largest timber mosque in Malaysia. Stop for awhile for prayer here.
