There were numerous Islands on the sea of Sasebo city. It is considered that it have the highest Islands density in Japan. I took an excursion boat to see those Islands on the sea. In addition, I visited two gazebo. To be honest, I felt it is better to look Islands from gazebo than a cruiser. There were many many Islands. When I took a cruise, I looked few Islands at same time. From a gazebo, I could look a lot of Islands at same time. very beautiful view.

Thanks to the weather, we could enjoy such a peaceful time looking down Kujuku-shima while some hawks flying in the blue sky in font of us. It was a very unique view with many little Islands floating on the ocean and a couple of sightseeing boats go around those Islands.
We only walked a few minutes to get the top of the observation platform from the parking and there was a pretty cosmos garden in between. It is definitely worth the time to visit.

Probably not the most exciting as a stand-alone trip, but works as a great add-on if you are already seeing things in the area (i.e. a day fishing, going on the 99 Islands tour, exploring the boardwalk with your kids). Very clean, well maintained. Definitely a great spot for kids, who can enjoy touch tanks and standing next to the turtle tanks. Dolphin enclosure can be viewed from below and there's an outdoor deck above where they perform a brief show. Pretty small enclosure though. The highlight for us was the large tank wall with the "tunnel" area- so many fish to see and very fun to view in that format with the sun shining in through the top. The jellyfish exhibit downstairs was also really great, and included more types and sizes than I even knew existed. Some were even Bioluminescent.

As mentioned in my other reivew for Tenkaiho, Sasebo is well known for Kujukushima, known as 99 Islands. After visiting Tenkaiho, our guide book also listed Ishidake Observatory as a good view point of Kujukushima. I agree that this is also a great place to stop to view the Islands from afar, but is at a lower altitude compared to Tenkaiho. This spot is also famous as it is where The Last Samurai was shot. There are fewer parking spaces here compared to Tenkaiho, and you might not get a spot if you get there around sunset time.
We arrived just a bit before sunset time and was lucky to get a parking space. There are two points where you can view the Islands , both of which you need to walk through a short path. There are signs saying that you should leave this area after sunset as it is not well-lit.

Opened in 1992, this theme park is actually a recreation of a 17th-century Dutch village complete with authentic architecture, canals and historic sites. The park is compilation of hotels, attractions, shops, restaurants and live entertainment.

Visited with my company to see the amazing LED light display at night, although the weather was colder than I had anticipated, I really enjoyed my trip to this theme park. The last time I was there was at least 15 years ago and I feel like they have improved upon what was a great concept. The park was themed after Holland I believe with the flowers and the windmills, there are rides for all ages and a great selection of places to eat. It’s definitely a good place to take your kids or on a date to just enjoy the scenery. If you have a chance to go see them light up the park at night, don’t miss it!

Enjoyed driving up to the observation deck and walking around, looking out over Sasebo. Wonderful on a clear day! You can see just about everything. Nice boardwalk with signs posted, beautiful cherry blossom trees. Also more great walking in the park at the other end of the parking lot.

This museum was very good! The staff working at the time I went did not speak English, (I don't ever expect them to since it is Japan after all) but they do provide you with an English walk through handout that coordinates with numbers next to the exhibits. That way you can look up what everything is and get a brief description, which I found very helpful.
There was several floors of exhibits and towards the end there is an interactive simulation that you can try and steer a ship into Sasebo Bay lol. I couldn't initially figure it out but a gentleman that works there was very friendly and showed me what to do with out me having to ask for any help.
The gift shop had many good souvenirs from miniature models to keychains.

Eighty steps of penance from street level leads you to this inspirational Catholic Church. As you reach the top stair there is a larger than life size statue of Jesus with open arms greeting each and every visitor to this area. The Catholic Church is magnificent with the traditional request of removing your shoes before entering through the large wooden doors. Beautiful high ceilings, hand carved timber features and stained glass windows that tell the most moving stories. Everyone is welcome to the Miuracho Catholic Church and my advice would be, if you can spare an hour or two make sure to actually attend mass there, it is a very spiritual experience. Outside the walls of the church to one side is a Grotto with Our Lady and Bernadette statues and fresh flowers are always placed there.

The lighting effects at dusk/night completely changes the impressions of the park! They are so well done! From the waterfall of lights covering the tower to the lights in the canals - all very impressive. We made a special trip back into the park just to see the lights.
Most of the lights are invisible during the day which makes the change at night all the more magical.
