Medieval adventure! If you come to visit us you will arrive to the 16th century! We have a thematic park where children and grownups can enjoy the day, wear knight and warrior clothes, play games and study the life of medieval people. One of the main reasons to come and visit Rakvere Castle are the Chambers. Torture Chamber, Chamber of Death and HELL. Worth of visit is also Red Lights street, Medieval Brothel, Barber shop and Alchemic room. Quests are welcoming also different animals and the gloriest of them al is a Donkey called Mickens!
Was surprised to see a lot of effort put in the area: a medieval fair with people dressed up as medieval people and you were allowed to climb and go almost everywhere. However, the minus comes from listening all of the explanations (e.g. torture chamber) in Estonian but not even available in English - which is weird since the entrance fee is relatively high for locals. Our Finnish skills helped us to say on board with the info but I can only imagine what the other nationalities were getting out of it.

Aqva Hotel & Spa's water park and sauna complex is situated in the heart of Rakvere. It boasts a 25-metre pool with 6 lanes and a host of attractions – a wave pool, a counter-current swimming lane, a fun pool with massage features, an outdoor pool open all year round and the Black Hole waterslide with special lighting effects. There are also pools for children and babies. A wide selection of refreshing beverages and cocktails is served at the water park's bar. The sauna complex features steam saunas, aromatic steam saunas, a salt sauna, a sanarium, a steam salt sauna and an infrared sauna. There is also a cold water pool, contrast foot baths, a warm relaxation bench and jacuzzis.
Great location in the middle of the town, most of other attractions are in the walking range. Very friendly staff. Definite highlight was a "banya" ritual experience in the sauna complex.

The Tarvas sculpture was unveiled in 2002 to mark the 700th anniversary of Rakvere. Situated close to the Order Castle on Vallimagi hill, Tarvas is 7 metres long, stands 4 metres high and weighs 7 tonnes. He stands on a granite base bearing the coat of arms of Rakvere, a brief history of the town in Estonian, Swedish, German, Danish, Polish and Russian and the names of sculpture’s sponsors.

If you’re tired from exploring the museums and traipsing up and down Vallimägi hill, the best place to take the weight off your feet is Rakvere’s central square, which was constructed in 2004. Kids will have fun running around on the bumps and other features and riding the toy animals. The contemporary bus pavilion, the yellow domes in the square and the Fountain create a modern and interesting atmosphere.Did you know…?*The central square in Rakvere has been home to a sculpture dedicated to honorary citizen Arvo Pärt entitled 'Young man on bicycle listening to music' since 11 September 2010
Rakvere is a rather small town with 15,000 people. It's calm and kind of slow-paced and that's what this square represents pretty well. Just the right place where to stroll towards one of the comfortable benches, put your legs up and read a book while watching the time go by. And you'll see that in this town, it really does not fly...
In addition, yellow Fountain "hats" and sculpture of world famous composer Arvo Pärt add a modern touch. There's also restaurants "Turuplatz" and "Admiral" on the square in case you're hungry.

A late medieval church with an unusually high and slender spire that was built in the 17th century. Grave marker of Bishop Arnoldus H. Annabat. Eye-catching Baroque fretwork masterpieces – the pulpit and altar wall.
Very nice church! Nice architecture and friendly stuff. You can go to the tower and have a nice view (in Estonia in means of course first, that You must find a clear weather:)). I suggest to go some day, when they have a organ concert (in summers they have it every saturday at 12.00) to listen one very good instrument in Estonia!
In summer they have also one small but cute caffeteria in front of the church:)

A nice street 1,2 km long with some well-preserved buildings built in XiX- early XX centuries. A tourist attraction to be visited in Rakvere. In addition you can find there a number of small shops with souvenirs and local goods. The most interesting museum in Rakvere (Rakvere Town Citizen's Home Museum) il located in this street.

Go see the life how it was 100 years ago! Citizen's residence is an exhibition providing in an authentic way an overview of life in Rakvere in the early 20th century.
This was included on our tour of the Rakvere Castle. Like the other reviewer mentioned, this seemed like taking a step in my grandmother's house (or even her mother's house). It was slightly interesting to wander around but it's not a must-see spot.

The German military cemetery is the final resting place of soldiers who served and fought as part of the German forces in World War II. The names, ranks, dates of birth and details of the demise of the soldiers are listed at the cemetery. There is also a memorial to the soldiers and to all victims of war.
The German military cemetery in Rakvere,Estonia is a peaceful place opposite the boutique hotel,Villa Theresa.it is ocated in an oak grove with much greenery and fresh air. But when you inspect the memorial and discover that 1456 German soldiers are buried here in this small town where there was a German military hospital in World War 2 it makes you think about the horrrs of war and to be grateful that fresh flowers are still laid on the memorial.

The 3 km long Rakvere oak grove hiking trail, outside of the city centre, is a showcase for oak trees which are between 150 and 220 years old. Along the trail you will see a wide variety of mosses, plants and trees, and hear and see many birds. The trail will also take you by the cemetery for German soldiers and the ‘Okaskroon’ memorial to those deported to Siberia.
Lovely walk in the forest! Not too growded, only a few people in a Sunday evening in June. Green green green, good for the soul :)
