Whenever I come to the region I go to the district of Serrinha do Alambari to appreciate the natural reserve. Here you can find absolute peace at the very heart of nature: this dense green spot among all the farms and cities around is the perfect place to rest and take a break from reality, detaching your mind from the urban chaos and pollution from the big cities -- it's the perfect countryside escape! With all its amazing trees and rapids, here you can practice some sport, camp, meditate and so on, be it with the family, on a couple or even with friends.
I totally recommend stopping by to check it out! First off, you can visit the Pedra Sonora (Sound Rock), making your way up by car to the central square, making a right turn after it and continue until you reach the Camping da Serrinha (after about 20 min by car). With an entrance fee of about 12 BRL (3.5 USD) you can profit from the rapids and falls spread everywhere on the camping, especially in a sunny day. They have a small restaurant as well as a sauna right at the bottom of a rapid, really worth trying it!

The sight is outstanding, and the epoch to visit is the April -October period where chances for extended rains are slim. Book one of the adjourning Pousadas near the upper entrance of the
Parque das Agulhas Negras. It is some 40 km from the Garganta do Registro ( a cross-road where the regular asphalt ends in the BR-354).
It is paramount to have an experienced guide. He will help you with the difficult stretches, besides being well-known by the Park employees , which expedites the process of registering at the Park upper gate.
Once registering with the personnel of the Park, prepare to spend about 8 hours between going up and walking back to the park entrance. The instructions of what to take with you and how to dress you can get from your guide. It is tiring but a very good exercise and the joy of conquering such a high peak, known once as the culminant in Brazil , is definitely worth your while

Different to other falls below this one, it has a few users and most of the time just families. The road to the fall is bad but this brings the isolation to make it the best one in the sequence of falls. The "poço das esmeraldas" or emerald´s pool deserves the name. It doesn´t require long walking to get to the water and there is a section good for kids too.

Went several times to the park and also did Prateleiras, which is the best thing to do after Alguhas Negras. The cilmb is not to difficult and can be done without a giude. When I did the climb it was a bit foggy, but nevertheless wonderful. The hike to the peak is also very nice and not to strenuous.

The AMAN is a huge military training camp in the centre of Resende, where the public can visit
If you are lucky you can time your visit when the recruits are all training in the pool, stables, assault course, or fields.
There is a free guided tour of the buildings and a museum to spend some time in (with a guide)
Our guide did his best to speak in English for our party!!

This waterfall lies in the heart of Itatiaia's National Park and is really worth going. For those who enjoy being in touch with nature and seek a peaceful place to relax not so far from big cities such as Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, this is a great choice. A day in the park is surely pleasant and visiting Deus Waterfall is a must. It's a good idea to arrive as early as possible because it's likely to rain in the afternoon (specially in the summer).

When you think of climbing in this Park , you only remember of Agulhas Negras, and the Prateleiras
Last week we visited the Pedra do Altar through the 5 Lagos path
It was very special if you like different sceneries.
The comoetition to get a vacancy is easier as compared to the most famous spots and the reward interms of exercise and beauty make it a worthwhile entertainment

If you have a day to spare when in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) then take a trip to Resende and skydive with Paraquedismo RJ. The team are enthusiastic, professional and safety is their paramount concern. The process from arrival to departure is very slick and I was impressed. It was well worth the effort to travel to Resende to experience the thrill of a tamden jump with breathtaking views and of course glorious weather. For those of you who may be a little anxious, remember you are attached to an experienced instructor who is there to support you and prevent complications.
GETTING THERE: take a bus from Rio to Rodoviaria Bus Station. Then go to the main coach station nearby and take a Cidade Do Aco coach to Resende. Once in Resende get a taxi to Aeroclube Resende. This may read quite complicated, but my experience was very smooth indeed. You can book the coach online if you prefer.
