Sipping your way across the Paarl Wine Route is one of the most enjoyable ways to experience this South African town. Besides being part of the Cape Winelands region, Paarl is the place where the Afrikaans language was developed, a linguistic feat that’s commemorated by a dramatic monument. Cheer on your favorite pony at the Polo Club or hit the links at one of the area’s many beautiful golf courses.

We opted for the master wine and cheese tasting--8 different wines and cheeses selected to accompany them. All the pairings were well-explained by the staff and it was a fun gastronomic experience. We ended up purchasing a few bottles, which were well-wrapped for travel by...MoreThank you for the great review! We're so glad that you enjoyed your visit :)

The farm has been the jewel of the Bovlei valley for three centuries and has had many owners. The current farm dates from 1993 with the decision to grow high quality wine grapes. The first vines were planted in 1995. Since the present owners acquired it in 2003, they have built a winery, tasting room and storage complex. In 2005, the farm was given Estate status.
Right at the end of the Bo-vlei road and right beneath Bainskloof pass with stunning scenery. I enjoyed their wines and had a nice cold meat and cheese platter for lunch. Friendly service and a must do estate if you're after good wines

Ridgeback offers the perfect experience for wine lovers who appreciate all the finer things in life. Taste our deliciously different wines, presented by friendly and knowledgeable staff in the air-conditioned comfort of our intimate tasting room or, if you prefer, out on the deck, overlooking a dam populated with a range of exotic waterfowl.
Very professional sommelier. Very gorgeous wines ranging in price from the inexpensive but delicious Lion Hound to the Ridgeback HMC. A relaxed place, looking over the bird filled dam, and to taste the wines rather than a sterile room.

Never been before but loved it! We always stay in Franschhoek but never been into this reserve. Great walking area, with some marked pathways- just follow the white footsteps. Free parking during the week but remember some water as no cafe or little shop.

This venue is like no other in this region, on arrival we tasted wine, then went on to taste beer, which was very interesting, learning the different ingredients used in beer making, the staff are extremely knowledgeable. We went on to taste chocolates of note, yum. Then it was coffee time, in a totally relaxed little garden.
Lastly we did locally made Gin and Grappa tasting which stirred up our appetite and we settled for a meal.
Absolutely fabulous, is all I can say about this winefarm

It is always the attention to detail that shines through.Even the trees and shrubs planted either side of the entrance drive tell you this is a class establishment.Beautifully laid out and well set up for a first class tasting.
Carefully structured wine tasting amist all the sporting memorabilia linked to the owners travel agent past.We had a six wine range with the three standouts being Arya,Shiraz and Insipio, the last being exceptionally good.
How such a magnificent set up will survive if there is no rain in their winter in 2018 is another matter. The majority of the vineyard is irrigated and if no rain, there is no plan B.

Enjoy our decadent cakes and a cup of freshly brewed coffee at the coffee shop, while taking in the stunning views of the alpaca herd, the dromedaries and Table Mountain in the background. Watch our weavers at work, interact with the alpacas and all the other animals in the petting zoo and have your kids use up all that pent-up energy on the jungle gym or go on an Alpaca Barn Tour. Farming alpacas under the stud name Manor House Alpacas since 2004, we started hand-weaving in 2012 as The Alpaca Loom. Today, the alpaca herd has grown substantially to over 300 animals. The fibre is sent for spinning and is then either hand-woven or woven on a mechanical loom in small runs on the actual farm. The Alpaca Loom produce a variety of woven scarves, shawls, blankets and rugs using the beautiful range of natural colours that their alpacas produce. Additionally there is a selection of exquisite hand-knitted mittens, beanies and jerseys available as well as an assortment of double-knit and ultra-chunky alpaca yarns. Open daily from 10:00 to 18:00 Alpaca Barn Tours are offered every Friday to Sunday at 15:00 - Meet our alpaca herd up close and find out more about this special animal and its luxurious fiber. Alpaca Barn Tours are subject to an entrance fee.
Outside Cape Town, close to Paarl is an Alpaca farm with +- 300 alpaca and llama which are available to feed close up. Great experience for kids and adults.
Tours are available to see the baby alpaca, looms are being operated on the property and you can observe scarves etc being made.
Cafe serves great coffee, staff are super friendly.

We enjoyed a memorable evening watching the moon rising over the Mountains. The view from there is spectacular! The architecture of the monument is amazing and the surrounding area is breathtakingly beautiful. There is a small cafe on the property and the people were super nice and accommodating. A lovely place to visit when you’re in the area.
