Olbia (Italian: [ˈɔlbja] ( listen), locally [ˈolbja]; Sardinian: Terranòa; Gallurese: Tarranòa) is a city and comune of 59,885 inhabitants (November 2016) in the Italian insular province of Sassari in northeastern Sardinia (Italy), in the Gallura sub-region. Called Olbia in the Roman age, Cività in the Middle Ages (Giudicati period) and Terranova Pausania before the 1940s, Olbia was again the official name of the city during the period of Fascism.

We visited on a Sunday.....not a great idea because all the locals come to the beach. So we walked along it and then decided to walk along the coast to the next beach which is a dog beach! Basically a beach where you are allowed to take dogs. Only a couple there and the beach was so quiet . So if the main beach is too busy, just a five minute walk to the quieter one. Plenty of facilities at the main beach, snack bar and loos and sunbeds to hire.

...as opposed to the more recent and fancy villages in the region. One central square with a church, a few restaurants and shops. Little streets with shops selling local produce and design. We could not make it for the Thursday AM market which seems to be nice, but we could catch the fantastic sunset as the whole village gets tainted with purple shades.

A very short drive just north of Aggius on the road to Isla Rossa amassed with spectacular rock formations and scenery. We drove through, then turned around and went back, then turned around again. Only a few pull offs available for photo opportunities but still fabulous.

The beach is nice with quite a number of restaurants overlooking the beach and the sea. There are parking but unless you get there early, you may have a little walk.
The beach is sandy. Part of it has sea weeds but if you walk a bit further, the water is very clear.
There is a water activity centre where they arrange dive and scuba trips. They also have a banana boat ride. It is 10 Euros for approx 15 minutes.
We could not see a public shower by the beach so if play in the sand, you need to wash it off in the sea before heading to a restaurant or back home.
We stayed at Costa Paradiso and we visited this beach once. It is nice. We did eat in 3 of the restaurants within this town.
In summary, I think this is a nice beach and is worth at least one visit.

One of the oldest chrches you will ever see. So simple but so special. Weird that the town wasnt built around it. The church is sort of down a back street away from the centre

During our 2 weeks stay in Sardinia we visited a few different places on the North East and West costs. We did find Porto Rotondo a bit too touristic to our tasty where there was a lack of authenticity. Most or even all restaurants are expensive and are sort of tourist trap. So if you want to get a real good feel to Sardinian food you'd better search for an agriturismo more into the country side.

Child friendly beach not as flash as the others, has lots of bars and restaurants to choose from plus umbrellas and chairs are far cheaper than Porto Istana I paid €12 for chair and umbrella whereas you pay over €20 at the other Beaches. Water colour is insane and so are the views. You get there with bus No4 from Olbia

we arrived on a hot sunny afternoon at baia corallina beach and not so many people were there, what makes us a little bit astonished. the beach is surrounded by a lush vegetation, a small port for touristic boats is near the beach area and in the back of the Main Beach a big area with holiday houses is located, but every building is well integrated into the landscape.
the beach itself completely protected by land and no wave interupts the crystaclear and tupwarm water. the atmosphere was relaxed and chilled. the beach slopes gently to the sea and so baia corallina is a perfect place for families with small children.
further enough rock formations and cliffs are located at one end of the beach and it is possible to snorkel also. watershoes are necessary because the rocks are sharp-edged and like everywhere sea urchines are habitated.
directly on the beach shadowzones are rare and an umbrella and sun protection is absolutely necessary. also a cooling bag with drinks shoud be by side, because only the restaurant of the holiday house colony is located. about the prices we cannot give any information.
because the area is not so big a stop between one or two hours is enough to see all and relax for small while
we can recomment baia corallina very much. a perfect place to let dangle the soul.
