It was raining, when we entered the Cathedral, and the wedding ceremony met us in the entrance, so nice to see it in the contrrast of northern nature, dark catholic church and beautiful bride in white dress... We were pleased to visit this place.

This sight is built around a beautiful old vicarage (i.e. the local head priest's residence) which has been converted into a café and a restaurant. Towards the river there is a huge charming garden. There are several other heritage buildings, mostly selling handicrafts and a café by the lake. The whole area is compact and can easily be visited on foot, is public access (no entrance fee) and there is a big parking. Highly recommend!

This place is valuable for me, because I respect Mannerheim. It is possible to look into car through windows - entrance prohibited. Funny, that car attached to platform with a small locker - you can find it, Ithink it is a joke.

We visited this interesting museum as a group of experts. However, we found out lot of details which were not commonly known. This museum gives you a very good lay-out about the finnish war history during the last 200 years. We can recommend a visit to this interesting museum.

Although Mannerheim`s statue in Mikkeli is nothing special (and not worth the while to travel there just to see it) but if already visiting Mikkeli, might as well see the monument. It is located in the city centre, by the marketplace. Mannerheim`s saloon vagon (more interesting) is less than 1 km from it, so might as well see it. Covered in pigeon poo sadly.

Centrally located the observation tower is an easy visit. There's a nice small park around it and you can climb to the top for a couple of euros for good views over Mikkeli. On top there's also quite a bit of information about the city, also in English.
Downstairs there's a small and nice, traditional café.

The Viestikeskus Lokki is carved inside a rock. The museum displays the daily activities of the wartime communications centre that served the military headquarters. A small but an interesting specialty museum. A nice addition to visiting the Headquarters museum accross the street.

This church is a gem. It is one of the oldest Finnish big wood churches. Indoors it is very beautiful and going there makes you feel to stay long. Perfect harmony with people. In the summertime there is a guide to tell you the history and inform you of the details in the church.
