Do yourself a favor and go to see this beautiful church. Before visiting the church proper, you will be instructed to visit the abandoned convent next door, which is an incredible experience. Once you have done that - enter the church and be awed! Besides the beautiful interior of the sacred space, there is also a crypt that is a must see.

I was taken by surprise by the size of this lovely old theater on the waterfront of Mazara del Vallo. We were walking by, and looking in the window of the front doors, and were invited in to see the theater. It is lovely and almost miniature in design......

This Cathedral Church is very large and beautifully positioned close to the Lungo Mare. The front face is very beautiful as my photo shows. A large square lies behind the building from where one can gain a sense of its proportions. The architecture is predominantly baroque though its origins lie in Norman times. We definitely recommend this as one of the most interesting sites in the town and it is worth researching the long and complex history of the place.

The story of how this remarkable Greek figure was recovered is fascinating. Some fisherman originally found an arm and later went back and eventually found the rest. It took a long time to reconstruct. We actually got to meet one of the fisherman who found this treasure!

This is a rather small Kasbah relative to typical northern African. Nothing really special or unique.

This is a large complex near the Duomo which recently underwent restorations. The Jesuit church has the roof still missing but the columns and the site are beautiful. The ornate facade and the door are equally worth seeing. The ouster has been recently reconstructed and renovated by the city and has a lovely structure with doric column. It houses the civic museum which is now expanding.

Moving experience discovering the men and women who fought the Mafia, many who paid with their lives. The museum is simple and a work in progress but the staff are delighted to explain their project to non Italian speaking visitors, since most of the exhibits (interactive) are in Italian. Do visit the nearby shop to sample confiscated goods.
