Popular in the late 18th and early 19th century with luminaries such as Strauss, Wagner, Kafke, Freud, Twain and Edward VII, this sprightly spa town is a charming spot. Delicately painted spa houses and hotels tiptoe up the lush, forested mountainsides. One hundred mineral springs with high carbon dioxide and iron content confetti the town and nearby hillsides, many with neat colonnades and stately pavilions. The most famed is the cupola-capped and colonnade-adorned Krizovy pramen.

Very nice stroll above the peat bog on the wooden pavement surrounded by blueberries. You can feel the fresh air and enjoy short peaceful walk, e.g. on your way to Kynzvart or Marianske Lazne.

The parks offer a quiet and peaceful walk with wildlife at your side. The array of ducks and birds coupled by the landscape make this a unique location. Strongly recommend to visit if in the town or area

Literally few steps from city museum starts an educational trail on a slope of a hill. Between trees, bushes and wild vegetation on narrow twisting pathways one can find 20 examples of minerals typical of geology of this area.
Information panels are illustrated by large pieces (large means stones of several tons) of minerals with one side cut and polished to see the very structure of those. We had never seen such a thing, usually minerals are shown as a small pieces fitting into a hand,

Definitely worth to see, walk under the trees and look into past of our planet. The length could be few hundred meters, it is not easy to find and not much taken care of (wild vegetation is growing over some stones), but these are minor matters.

We went to mass on Sunday at 10:00 am, traditional Catholic service, very nice, just a side note that all though it was a warm day, the church was cold inside so might be wise to bring a jacket.

Visitors to this popular casino try their luck at a variety of table games including American roulette and blackjack.
The most arrogant " A(l)ttitude " of a manager I have ever seen !
And yes he is German.
after playing in the casino for more than 5 hours and after spending more than 1500 euros, the nice and final surprise from the management of the casino.
During the 5 hours we had 5 drinks, guess what we had to pay for seven rings including 2 beers we never had.
during this 5 hours they offered us drinks but never told us that we have to pay for them. the manager when confronted said : I am German the casino has a German management and you have to pay for your drinks !
the most arrogant person I have ever met all my travels around the world !
and a final word about the dealers:
90 % of them were counting the cards out loud at the blackjack table, misscounting several times !
keep up the good work guys and you will very soon end up closing this joke casino!

Meticulously organized and lovingly put together exhibits in a well maintained historic building. Diverse exhibits cater to various interests, from Goethe's stay in the building to famous guests visiting the spa, from minerals mined in the surrounding area to interesting artifacts typical to the location. Excellent "quality experience"!

If you have the good fortune to be in town together with the orchestra, should not be missed. Beautiful architecture, perfect acoustics. Saw a Mozart / Rossini concert, will not be forgotten for a long town. Located at the north end of town. Walking distance from everywhere.
