Frances beach is beautiful. If you're not sure whether to go, go.
We visited twice, once during the week and again at the weekend. While the weekend was busier, it wasn't crowded.
The surf here is good and is popular with the locals. Early morning waves are best for beginners, while later on in the day they increase in size.
The sand is golden and clean. There is no seaweed and no signs of fishing. The smell which affects other Beaches in Maceio is not present here.
The beach is large so plenty of room. Parking is available but is chargeable.

Casa Museo Marechal Deodoro

This beach is littered with trash. It's good if you want to hang with the locals and not see any gringoes. Unfortunately they are building a big condo development at the entrance so enjoy it before it's totally destroyed like most other things in Brazil.

Our first stop was Marechal Deodoro. This little village lies on the banks of the Logoa Manguaba – or Manguaba Lagoon. It is a peaceful little town with many pretty churches and a few streets of colonial architecture dating back to the early settlement days. Marechal served as the capital of the state of Alagoas between 1823 and 1839, and although there is not a lot of historical things to see, it’s easy to imagine this little village and a more bustling place. Now, it is a good chance to see real Brazilians going about their everyday lives – fishing in the lagoon, shuttling the children home from Church, cooking BBQ’s.
We were able to enter a church not long after the last Sunday service – some were still in the church doing the Rosary (most churches are Roman Catholic), and was able (with permission) to snap some pictures. The look is typical of most small rurual churches – a large front, with whitewashed interiors and naves. Much pride is taken in the buildings by the locals, and one can normally find them in these small villages for looking among the buildings for the open space of the square. This small village has a number of these churches – more than one would guess for such a small place – I counted four.
