This mosque is located very close to where I stay. Its about 15 kms from the main city of malda. Built during the Bengal sultanate period, its a large structure famous for its multi coloured enamelled bricks. The walls of the mosque has two types of bricks, lower portion grey coloured and the upper portion red coloured. Garden surrounding the mosque is well maintained too. Nice place to visit.

Baroduari Mosque or Barasona Masjid is a beautiful architectural example of 16th centry. Its a beautiful to be at..couple of domes and walls are ruined...still the architectural beauty is a treat to eyes. Government should take care of more these ancient structures and promote tourism.

One good thing about the places in Gour is that they are maintained by Archeological Survey of India which ensures that they are neatly maintained. It was nice spending time here observing the architecture of a bygone era

Dakhil Darwaza, meaning entrance gate was probably built in 1425 A.D.This impressive gateway formed the northern entrance to the then fort of Gour and was possibly built by Barbak Shah. It is made of small red bricks and terracotta work. In the past, cannons used to be fired from here as a salute(Salami). Hence the gate also came to be known as the Salaami Darwaza. The area is surrounded by a beautiful garden having a well maintained grass lawn.

Maa Johura Temple is situated on the outskirts of Malda Town,West Bengal, India. It is surrounded by lush green fields on one side and Mango Orchards on the other side, and is very near to Bangladesh border. The original temple is stated to have been built in c1500A.D.(?),however,there is another view that the original temple was built by Raja Ballal Sen in 1159-1179 A.D.(?)who was the third ruler of Sena Dynasty of the then Bengal .It is a renowned temple of Adishakti in Malda and the diety is represented by three faces of Goddess Kali .It is said that the three faces represent the three goddesses Maha Kali, Maha Laxmi and Maha Saraswati. The unique feature of this temple is that it opens only on Tuesdays and Saturdays when thousands of people come to offer their prayers, rest of the days the temple remains closed.

The minar which is similar in appearance to the qutub minar in Delhi is located in lush green surroundings by the side of a big lake. It is worth visiting the place. Going inside is not allowed. I saw a girl watering the grass, Is she the ghost mentioned in the previous comment ?

Located about 25 Kms.from Malda Town in West Bengal,India there is a mound adjacent to the Baisgazi Wall known as the Palace area of ancient Gaur.Excavation was conducted at the site(Mound) about a decade back and it shows remains and structure belonging to Sultanate period (?). The discovery include a huge structural complex constructed of bricks and stone in which the binding material is mud mortar. It was enclosed by a a huge brick wall hence the name Baisgazi(?) Wall. The entire construction was based on formation of strong criss-cross wall over which series of circular walls were formed within the entire enclosure. The brick circles are of uniform size with a hole on four sides. The symmetrical nature of the construction at that time is awe inspiring.During the visit ,restoration work of the Baisgazi Wall was in progress in which the same type of brick and mud mortar was being used. Unfortunately, there is no information available at site as to what the excavated symmetrical structure represents . A must visit site for archaeologists, historians and the tourists.

Lord Chaitanya Temple is situated in a small village of Ramkeli about 14 Km south from Malda on the way to Gour. Ramkeli is famous for being the temporary home of Lord Sri Chaitanya, the great religious reformer of Bengal, where he had stayed for a few days on his way to Brindaban. The place still features two Kadamba and two Tamal trees, which is believed to be the meditation site of Sri Chaitanya. A temple has been constructed beneath these trees, housing the footprints of Sri Chaitanya on stone. Celebrations are held at the site on every Jaishthya Sankranti( in the month of May-June) to commemorate the arrival of Sri Chaitanya. A week-long fair also starts on this day when devotees from far off places arrive to participate in the various programmes.
