Kampung Kuantan Firefly Park. There are lots of operators offering tours to this destination ,and also other attractions on the way.
The cheapest option is to hire a good premium taxi and negotiate with the driver. We were fortunate to know one that we had used before and came highly recommended
Executive taxis (kernel Singh) Malaysia 014- 6455 886. picked us up from our K.L hotel.
and drove us about an hour to the firefly park. We stopped on the way for a break and were offered the chance to do other activities if we wished. Decided to visit just the park. At sun down you view the fireflies from the boat on the water. Mesmerising if you haven't seen them before. After viewing we decided to have something to eat and drink locally.
Then back to the hotel. enjoyed the trip, and was hassle free.

Our guide Allan suggested this visit to Bukit Melawati just before we left KL and were going to return in 4 days. A last minute plan which turned out to be quite an interesting experience. Each of the activities on this afternoon/evening adventure was a surprise and very pleasant ones at that.
It was on this hill that a fort was built in the 19th century with the purpose of protecting Selangor from Dutch attacks. When the Dutch captured Kuala Selangor, they repaired and equipped the fort with better cannons and renamed the fort as "Altingsburg."
Today, Bukit Melawati offers a panoramic view of the Selangor coast and the Klang Valley. Besides the fort, there are several other facinating historical attractions such as the Altingsburg Lighthouse, the Royal Mausoleum, the fabled execution block, the legendary 100 steps and others. The lighthouse still works - and we could see it flashing as we took a boat later to see fireflies.
The main attraction here are the Silverleaf monkeys. Food can be purchased from vendors at the hill and most of the monkeys are super tame and can be fed out of your hand. Be warned that they may just jump up into your lap, on your shoulders or even on top of your head! Feeding the Silverleaf monkeys is indeed an unforgetable experience.
Getting up to the top of the hill is not a problem as there are tram services which transport visitors to the top. Highly recommend this tour.

Apparently not a place for typical tourists because no camera is allowed inside the temple. Also kindly noted that there are visiting hours and closed for the rest of the time.
The temple is good and impressive, wonderful carvings and beautiful perspective.
Sarong is available for free, in case you are wearing shorts or mini skirts.

The adventure trip was really exciting. Izni took care of everything, right from picking us up to driving us back to the hotel (the one hour drive was scenic and enjoyable, might I add). The water rafting in itself was absolytely new to me and great fun, the adrenaline rush cannot be explained in words. The rafting guides were helpful and fun to be around. A delicious local lunch was included, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience from start to finish

Malaysia's Largest tour operator services is Golden peacock travel services and services at Kuala Lumpur, Cameron, Penang, Malacca, Selangor and all other cities & sightseeing places.
They pick you from your hotel, take you to Pewter shop, then for monkey feeding and then eagle feeding which is optional and charged 50 ringets. After dinner they take you to the Firefly park when it starts getting a little dark. It is the most amazing experience. You can see the fireflies glittering like festival lights on trees in the complete dark. At first I thought it is Christmas lights but they take you on a boat and go at touching distance to the tree where you can see them glowing and flying away. It is an amazing experience not to be missed. You find yourself shifted to another world in complete dark where the only light coming was from these tiny creatures. I am afraid of dark but I forgot that when they started glowing. It is mesmerising.
Word of caution please wear fully covered clothes and mosquito repellent.
My recommendation is that you can not miss this experience.

I've always had sweet memories and experience here, whether it was with a partner or a group of friends. It's magical, just laying atop the huge rocks and soaking in the sun rays, watching kids doing 360 jumps off the waterfall. The seven river crossings are bearable, but you'll just have to be brave to cross the current waves, then you're off to this beautiful place!

my family goes very often to this place for biking. it is very adventures since the upper slopes are quite steep. sometimes it is difficult to take our mountain bikes up to the peak . we always pack food and drinks since there are no vendors.Once on the peak you get a fantastic view, of the Klang River, basically this place is great for hiking and biking

We drove through narrow road in between the village houses to arrive at the jetty.
The toilet and the whole jetty front is dilapidated, not at all good for a tourist impression. The timber board walks are ricketry and not maintained. It was half an hour journey on the boat ride to reach Sasaran Beach.
This large expanse of "beach" is actually a sand bar which forms naturally by the ebb & flow of the sea tide. This very flat sand bar only protrudes out of the water when tide goes as low as 2.4m above mean sea level. The area of this flat sand bar covers an area of 100 soccer fields. We learned that it was discovered by the local fishermen about 70 years ago but was only announced to the public about February 2016. This sand bar will only be seen on few days a month when the tide is especially low about full moon time.
When we arrived, the tide is at our knee level, but soon enough the water level subsided allowing the visitors to get ready to wade into the shallow water and enjoy fun time for "sky mirror' photography !!!!
The boat men are very skillful in helping us to capture every interesting pose !!! The extreme flatness of this beach is astounding. Therefore when tide has retreated to a thin sheet of water, the beach give it the mirror effect. Hence the name Sky-mirror.
We did not encounter any fishes caught stranded on the sand bar, but there are a lot of hermit crabs which inhabit this shallow sand bar. However we did find a large jelly fish of 2 feet in diameter stranded on the beach (it is of the edible type and harmless to people).

This is a good place to take some pictures of remembrance that you have been to Bukit Melawati. Owing to its strategic location, Bukit Melawati was once a place of many struggles. Glorious in history, the story began in 18th century after Sultan Ibrahim built a mighty fortress on the hill to safeguard the state from Dutch. When the battles with Dutch took place, the Dutch conquered Bukit Melawati and was reinforced with Dutch's cannons and ultimately, it was renamed to Fort Altingsburg.
