Saddleback Mountain Lookout

Reviewed By boyce1105 - Sydney

Saddleback Mountain Lookout is only a 10 to 15 minute drive from Kiama and it is amazing how quickly you ascend the mountain. As others have said, the drive is just as spectacular as the views that await you. There are three Lookouts at the top, imaginatively labelled A, B and C. Lookout A looks North over Jamberoo and Kiama. It is a sealed path and takes minutes to walk to. Lookout B looks south-west and is found by winding past the numerous telecommunications towers. It is a bit further of a walk but still relatively easy. It does overlook lush bush but the platform is still high enough to see further afield. Finally Lookout C looks South over the coast. A new path has been opened up a the end of 2016 and the platform sits high above the surrounding bush. It is a lovely walk through forest and whilst it only takes about 5 minutes, it is quite a steep path with wide steps going down. There are regular seats for resting at though if you take your time. It is worth the effort in my opinion. There are toilets near Lookout B and there are at least a few picnic tables near the Lookout C path, additionally there is plenty of grass to throw a blanket down on. When you have finished, you can take a circular route back through Jamberoo if you wish.

Kiama Harbour

Reviewed By trc2015 - Sydney, Australia

It is worth a visit. They have kept a number of historical buildings in the town. The harbour has a nice park next to it and you can walk along g the water to the jetty which has a fish shop. The town has come along with lots of cafes. No longer the sleepy coastal town it was about 25 years ago.

Kiama Blowhole

Reviewed By yss97 - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Google the tides and find out when high tide is, and go then. Do not go during low tide as there won’t be any spray as it happened when we went today. Nevertheless, it was nice to see the lighthouse and sea views even though nothing was happening at the blow hole.

Kiama Coastal Walk

Reviewed By Phil M - Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand

This is one of those awesome coastal walks in Australia. Depending on how far you go, you can certainly get away from crowds and see some spectacular coastal scenery. It is a paradise for adventurers and for photographers. The track is well marked, so you won't get lost (even on the odd occasions when you have to walk onto a suburban street because of the danger of sheer rock faces on the coast).
It is not a walk for the faint-hearted though - it does have lots of inclines that are rewarding to get even better views.

Cathedral Rocks

This was absolutely unbelievable, the sea was quite strong and the waves crashing against the rocks were fantastic, also we went a little further and you are actually behind them with the surf coming over some of the rocks, this was quite spectacular. Well worth going to see it, does not disappoint.

Although not as big as the big blowhole when the waves are pumping this little blowhole blows really well. A very nice spot to sit and watch. Usually very quiet as well.

Kiama Farmers' Market

The Kiama Farmers' Market is a genuine farmers market that is held EVERY Wednesday in Coronation Park at Surf Beach, Kiama. The market is open from 2-5pm in winter (April - September) and from 3-6pm in summer (October - March). The aim of this farmers market is to promote fresh produce and artisan made food/beverage products from local producers.

Reviewed By Llewellyn53 - Melbourne, Australia

There was face painting and marshmallow toasting for the kids and plenty of chances to snack (pies, pho, cakes etc) but with hours from 2-5 it is too late for lunch and probably too early for dinner unless you are talking pre-prepared meals. Entertainment and limited Seating show the organisers are a step above the rest. Fresh vegetables, meats, salami's, wine, cheeses, bread and cakes along with conserves and scones. Then there are the beers and apple juice along with granola blends but @ $30+ a bag i think the appeal to support the locals is limited. Located right next to the surf beach it does create some parking issues unless you are prepared for a short walk.

Rangoon Reserve

Reviewed By jeff w - Kiama, Australia

Rangoon Reserve is a fabulous place for a full day of swimming, exploring and relaxing. Located on the corner (Minnamurra River end) of Rangoon Rd and Charles Ave. There are no lifeguards that patrol here and you will need to be aware of the tidal flow of the river, but low tide is best time for the not so strong swimmers, children and the elderly. With easy access to the water via concrete stairs and a grassed area with some shady trees, this is one of my favourite places and I
m sure it will become yours if you visit. Across the road is a Cafe for food and drinks but I suggest you take a picnic.
