Serving as the capital of Pakistan since the Sixties, Islamabad was built according to a carefully organized plan, divided into sectors along a grid of clean, tree-lined streets. The city is sheltered by the Margalla Hills, the foothills of the Himalayas and the home of rare species of leopard, deer, birds, and even porcupines. Several hiking paths end at Daman-e-Koh, a picnic spot with a splendid view of the entire city, including the massive modernist Faisal Mosque and even the Rawal Dam.

Faisal Mosque is the mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan. Located on the foothills of Margalla Hills in Islamabad, the mosque features a contemporary design consisting of eight sides of concrete shell and is inspired by a Bedouin tent.
This is most impressive building in whole of Islamabad. Beautiful architecture and well worth the visit. We went there before sunset and enjoyed the views both in daylight and twilight.
I went there after 30 years and was a bit disappointed to see that the crescents on minarets and the central projection were very rusty and not as shining as they once used to be. The main prayer hall opens for the regular prayers. There is a nice souvenir shop near the stairs for magnets, etc.

There are a number of treks for the intrepid walker and they are rated for length and difficulty. I went of Trail 5 which I was told was the easiest. It started well but toward the end got steeper and stepper. I was exhausted by the end. Well worth doing but goodness knows what the more difficult trails are like.

The impressive and well-maintained petal-shaped granite structure has been artistically designed to reflect the history, culture, and unity of the provinces of Pakistan. The inner walls of the petals are decorated with murals which show important landmarks of Pakistan like Lahore Fort, Badshahi Mosque, Khyber Pass, Minar-e-Pakistan (Tower of Pakistan), etc. There is also a metallic crescent that is inscribed with sayings of the Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and poetry of Allama Sir Muhammad Iqbal, the philosopher, and politician. A National Monument it was constructed as a tribute to the people who sacrificed their lives for the independence of Pakistan. It mainly focuses on historical events of Pakistan Movement. Giving a panoramic view of Islamabad, the monument is surrounded by green and well-groomed Gardens that give a very serene impact. For some, it’s a popular picnic destination, but for many, it’s the best place for history lovers.

Visited lake view park, Islamabad.
This newly constructed Rawal Lake View Point or Rawal Lake Promenade, is a recreational area and wildlife park located at the bank of Rawal Lake, on Murree Road in Islamabad.
The water level in the lake is low & dirty, from what I saw 13 years back. There are chappo boats to sail around. But, the park sitting on it, is a wonderful addition with long walking treks, horse & camel riding, different birds, lush green areas & lot of kids activities.

Said pur is a beautiful village in the foot of Margalla Hills. One can appreciate the beauty and the old cultural importance of this place. There is a temple, a gordwara and mosque near to each other, which is symbol of religious harmony in pre partition era. Temple and gordwara is now restored and anyone can visit it. Mosque is operational.
There is many hotels offering almost all sort of food types dominated by local tastes.

An easily accessible trail is pretty varied, from a gentle walk in the lower stretches to a bit of a clamber higher up. Plenty of shade and a decent number of people so it is very safe. Obviously the earlier you get there, the better for seeing birds and butterflies.
