Screw Creek Nature Walk at Inverloch is a handy little walk located at the caravan park. It has boardwalks and a little bridge to get you across the creek and you can potter about on the mudflats if you (or the kids) so desire.
I've no idea what the rules are regarding fishing off there - or if there is anything of legal size there to catch - but from the small you certainly know you are in the mangrove wetlands!

I've come here a couple of times even though I feel I know the area. On the latest day I was asking about events for kids over the summer break and a lovely woman was full of information that had my head spinning. What a...MoreThanks for the great review. Mike Cleeland did an excellent job of bringing history to life in this special part of Australia. He involves children and adults alike. Our teenage boys were interested and enthusiastic as they searched for fossils in the dig. We were successful in finding some fossilized ferns.....the food of dinosaurs ! A most worthwhile activity if you are young and fit enough to negotiate steps and clambouring over uneven rocky surfaces. Great fun.

Breathe in... breathe out .... it's perfect ... the day was sunny, a slight breeze.... the azure water contrasted and yet blended, with the beautiful sky. You can lose yourself looking out across Anderson Inlet... it's breathtakingly beautiful. And if you watch the water dance, you will notice the differences in it's surface ... as though a spell is being cast beneath that surface.

Along the scenic coastal road from Inverloch to Cape Paterson are several points of interest. The big kahuna is Eagles Nest but there are others such as Flat Rocks, The Oaks, Twin Reefs and Shack Bay.
Shack Bay has a small car park the entrance of which you'll pass by if you are travelling too fast. From there it is a walk down a series of well maintained steps to a small bay. I didn't swim as it was way too cold the day I went but even so it was pleasant enough to stroll about the beach and check out the rock pools.
No facilities here - the only one of these points of interest to have them is Eagles Nest.

We visited the jetty environs and the walkway along the foreshore on the Australia Day weekend. There was a display of timber sailing boats in the Glade, who then raced in the sea, near the jetty. Nice area to view the sea and Seating is available along the walkway. I agree with other reviewers this jetty is no more special than many others in coastal Victoria. You can usually find on street parking nearby,

Unique Tasting Room in convenient location close to centre of town. Come down and taste our range of wines or sit and stay for a local produce platter and a glass. Local beer and gin also available.
As I live close by I'd heard many a good thing about Dirty 3, and also noticed it for sale (I love cross-promotion) in several places during our 2-day regional tour. So I had fairly high expectations. The short of it - Inverloch's setup is...MoreHi KJonholidays, Thank you for coming down to visit us. Not wanting to visit Inverloch without at least a short walk along the beach we stopped in at the surf beach. The car park is at the surf club and has the standard outside shower for rinsing off the sand before getting in the car.
Although a cool day it was a very busy beach with a lot of families during the school holidays.

The jumping off point for this walk is the same as for the Screw Creek Walk that is listed separately. But whereas that one is aimed at just pottering about the creek area the Townsend Bluff walk heads off - gaining height gradually - until you are at the far end of Townsend Bluff itself which gives views of Anderson Inlet, across to the Venus Bay area and back towards Inverloch.
The trail is well defined and fairly smooth but has a few steps. It's hardly an onerous undertaking. It's a circuit so you can just keep on following the trail and end up at the bottom again where it is a short walk back to the car park.
Just a hint - it can feel weird to be driving through a caravan park to get to the jump off point - you feel you must have taken a wrong turn! But just keep on driving and you'll find the car park at the end.
No public facilities.
At the end of the day this shouldn't be a walk that's beyond most people and would be a great start to the day if you are holidaying in the local area.
