The constellation of structures (the circular building housing the museum and the pyramid like structure), which comprise the Carl-Henning Pedersen and Else Alfelts Museum are so unique and colorful that even before you enter the museum building, you are already forewarned of what to expect of the huge collection of art by these two incredible artists, which are put together in just one place. The structures are architectural gems, the outer walls covered with ceramics, which are like canvas, upon which the capricious and playful art gods have generously splattered vibrant hues defying the ominous, dark skies, bringing life and color to the otherwise drab Danish landscape on a grey and rainy summer day. During our visit, there was also a huge and very interesting exhibit of Cobra artists, which included work of Heerup, Asger Jorn, just to mention a few, shown on the bottom floor of the museum. The permanent exhibits are found on different levels, and I believe are the most extensive showcase of Cobra art in Denmark. There should be around 6000 art works of Carl Henning Pedersen and Else Alfelt alone. Congratulations Herning for housing a world class museum! Before you visit the museum, check the website for opening times and days.

Trough adult eyes, outrageous entrance price €40,- for 2 adults and a 2,5 year old mixed with some very old and outdated playing toys. The arcade hal houses some games that are more than 20 years old! Fun for older kids but for the very young (1-4 year) ones little to do.

This is a great nature area and offers out door grill sites, where you have to book and bring your own. There is also a building with small nature museum and also a grill in door. You can also book some rooms for festivity and celebrations. If you are really for nature and want to stay over night in the forest, shelters are for hire. Great place for the out door family and friends.

Here you find a lot of pools both for small children and old people. We missed nothing at all and had a very active afternoon. We tried all the different pools including the hot water pool and loved all what this house had. Go and enjoy yourself

This sculppture is futuristic and science-fiction like. It is intriquing and constitutes an interesting feature of Birk Centerpark, which teems with architectural and sculptural treats. If you have time, it is worth taking a closer look, although the view is best from afar. What Elia is, is up to the beholder.

Herning is worth visiting for its interesting museums showcasing modern art and architecture. The Heart is a very good example, where the city has successfully combined modern art and architecture in one place. The modern building can stand alone in itself as an attraction, and contemporary art on exhibit by well-known artists like Per Kirkeby came to their right as they are displayed in the huge expanse of walls, without any distraction. The cafe was not open on the day we were there, but there was free coffee at the lobby and there is a covered Seating area outside the museum, where we could partake of our pack lunch. There is parking space infront of the museum. You can buy a combined entrance ticket for the Heart and the Carl-Henning Pedersen and Else Alfelt's Museum, which is just a few minutes walk across the street.
