Another lovely spot on Gabriola Island. Great views of the cove where yachts and sailboats anchor. The smooth rocks are pitted with small dimples carved by wind and sand into a skein of lovely patterns. Lots of small tidal pools at low-tide, make it fun for kids.

There is only one thing to say but you definitely have to stop here! Amazing! Make sure you go at low tide to see it all.

A mostly easy hike with a couple of steep places. Affords views of giant cedars and ocean views. A favourite swim spot for islanders. Occasional sightings of orcacwhales possible. Not uncommon to have the entire beach to yourself. Can be slippery in some spots in wet weather.

This park is on a narrow spit of land with Beaches on both sides, a short walk apart across a grassy field that had some picnic tables. There are some washrooms near the parking area.
On the afternoon we were there one beach was shaded so we spent more time at the other. Both have beautiful white sand above the high water mark and some interesting sandstone formations and tidal pools. I found some sea glass on the smaller beach, always a treat for a beach comber!

We will fish for Salmon and then bottom bounce for Ling & Rock Cod. We could put out Crab traps and Prawn trap
Regan and Sylvie were great!
We went for a half day trip with 2 adults and 4 kids. Our kids had a blast, as did we! The boat was very comfortable and our guides were very friendly & knowledgable.
Our fish were cleaned & packaged after & we were treated to seeing an eagle & seals come for the left overs.
We would definitely recommend going out with Regan & Sylvie if you want to experience ocean fishing!!

We walked along the sandstone beach from the Surf Lodge and Pub on Berry Point Road out to Orlebar Point and had a wonderful view of the Entrance Island Lighthouse. There is some limited parking and there are picnic tables and benches for public use. Great place for a snack or to sip a coffee. The beach is quite unique with all of its wind and wave-carved sandstone. Lots of interesting patterns and textures and fabulous views.

Nice display of the alternative lifestyle that was so much a part of the island in the 1970's. A series of short films about different aspects of Gabriola were well done, including one on the Aboriginal history. Nice little gift shop.

This is a challenging little golf course and the locals and Mainland golfers love it! It has friendly staff and great snacks in the clubhouse overlooking the course. Good driving range. Casual style golf, where you may find some interesting local golfers to share your round. Be warned, it may be casual but the course is not easy! (slopes, rocky outcroppings, trees, creeks, lake all make it interesting!)

Exciting Salmon fishing charters from Gabriola Island BC. Fish the protected waters off the Gulf Islands for Salmon Cod, Prawns, Crab aboard a 25' Kingfisher. Fully Transport Canada compliant and insured. Fly in and out. Close to Vancouver, accommodations available.
I have been out several times with Hasta Manana. Doug Know the best fishing spots around Gabriola island, each trip is full of laughs and the best fishing I've ever had. Regardless of the catches we always end up with a big bucket of Prawns. Perfect, thanks Doug!

Descanso Bay Provincial Park used to be called Gabriola Campground. We've visited this wonderful scenic campground a total of 4 times in the past 5 years. It is located at 595 Taylor Bay Road less than 5 minutes drive from the Gabriola BC Ferry terminal. It offers 32 camping sites on a beautiful 10-hectare oceanfront property. There are 3 coves that are sandy at low tides and offer abundant oysters and mussels. There are many activities that can be enjoyed while visiting or camping; kayaking, picnicking, hiking, photographing the wildlife and sceneries, swimming , etc. It offered wooded campsites throughout the whole grounds. Firewood can be purchased from a small convenience store located at the check-in in a shelter near the park's entrance. It is opened year-round and the rates are very reasonable especially during the off-seasons. I recommend making a reservation first before arrival especially during the very busy camping season. There is a small boat and kayak launch and day-use area overlooking the shellfish coves. Make sure to purchase your tidal fishing license before attempting to harvest the shellfish. The wooded trails in the regional park connect to the adjacent Cox Community Park. Descanso Bay Provincial Park is the only public campground with forested tent and RV sites in Gabriola Island. There are no public showers or running water available but there are pit toilets and artesian wells with potable water. It is a very relaxing and enjoyable place to visit and camp.
