We went there to recharge our batteries and it certainly worked. At times I visited the park several times a day to either sit near the Fountain and let the world go by or walk near the Gradierhaus, where evaporated salt water helps to clear your respiratory system. We often sat in the park until it closes, which is 10pm.
Only once did we spot some shady characters, which spoiled it a little.
Overall it's an amazing park, which often has music Performances in the park and nearby.
Not good for children, as the park is there to enjoy the calm and relaxing surrounding and not the screaming of children. There is a children's park nearby.

While visiting the gorgeous Bavarian town of Bad Reichenhall, or passing through the Salzburg or Berchtesgaden region a trip in the World's oldest twin cabin mountain cable car can't be missed. This lovely old cable car system - running since 1928 - takes you through...MoreThank you for your visit and the good commendation.

We came to Bad Reichenhall for other reasons and weren't aware of the Salt Museum. What an interesting history to learn about. We don't speak German, but they gave us a printed sheet in English with the tour translation.
The guided tour goes into all parts of the old salt works. Lots of steps, lots to look at. If you're in Bad Reichenhall I recommend it.

We planned to hire e-bikes, but had some problems with the suppliers so we took the bus from Bad Reichenhall that dropped us off right outside (about 15 min). You can walk around the whole like in about 40 min. Or 1h for the slower ones....like my mother. It is a beautiful late. There used to be a little area next to the lake full of see roses, but the guy who looked after it has passed away, so not so nice anymore.
You can also eat directly at the lake, but stick to nibbles as the food is not that great, however the service is.
Dogs should be using the lake during summer time, but there always those insensitive dog owners who have to break the rule, which is a bit of a downer.

Thousands of people use Landstrasse St2101 when they go to Ruhpolding for biathlon. Many of them see a small white and yellow church very high above the road. It looks like there is no way to get to it. Even less people know that behind it are very interesting ruins of a castle which go back to 11th century. Take you time and visit them in order to marvel beatiful views of the Bavarian Alps and to touch the taste of history. See fotos.

I have never seen so many magazines, maps, books and small souvenirs all together. A great shop to buy any type of magazine you're interested in. And if you spend more than 24 hours and you want a specific book, they will deliver it with your morning newspaper. We found also international press and books in this shop. When we took the train or the bus for short visits to Salzburg or Berchtesgaden-Königssee, we took our readings and across the shop we picked up a coffee and a croissant.
