This is the kind of place that you can only get to with a car. But the climb to the hill top is worth it once you settle down and start walking to the flower fields. The rapeseed flowers in yellow are particularly beautiful.

Awaji Island is such a beautiful Island,I really want recommend that you go and visit.
You can drive or take a bus from Kobe(about 60min) or Osaka(about 90min)
It is a very relaxed atmosphere, the people are nice, and they have many tasty foods.
Stop by here, to take a rest and eat some dishes at the restaurants or buy souveniers.

Awaji Yumebutai is the area that includes Westin Resort, Akashi Kaikyo National Gorvernment Park and Kiseki no Hoshi Botanical Museum.
Each charge a fee, each are pretty good but you need to pick your times. Check first what season it is, make sure everything is in full bloom.
We came in early June and it was shoulder season, everything was been cleaned up and getting ready for the summer season. Plants / flowers were being replanted, everything was being cleaned up.
The nice thing about early June weekday was the relative lack of people. A quiet place to enjoy the water and the big black kites (predator birds) flying around is pretty neat.
We would do it again.

The plant museum was magnificent and such an unexpected surprise. Every way you looked there were magnificent displays of flowers and plants from all over the world, all different environments within this huge glass "museum". This was only one part of this impressive park. Great for a garden lover! In fact, a must.

Located as part of the Yunebutai - attached to the Westin Hotel.
Price for adults is 600 yen person, however you do get a discount if you are a guest of the Westin Hotel.
There are different rooms that have emulate different climates. You get the hot and dry room where there is lots of cactus and other hot / arid plants. You get the fern room where it mists every 10 minutes. You get the tropical garden with tropical flowers in full bloom. The cold room which has an exhibit from Yunan, China.
Must give full kudos to the staff here, they are planting and removing annuals depending on the season. They have themes every month. This visit was the hydrangea season, so many different types of hydrangea was on display. Each month they change the flowers depending on the season of the flowers.
This is a wedding planner's heaven, many areas have chairs, tables and flower settings just perfect for wedding photos. My understanding, you are able to book parties at this location.
If you are not a flower person, this is probably not for you unless you are already staying at the Westin Hotel. My wife wants to comeback just to visit the exhibit during rose season. If you have any interest in flowers, it's worth a trip.

We visited by bus from Akashi bridge exhibition center to there. It takes around 40minutes. We can see the fault that result of the earthquake. Also we watched short video about the earthquake and understand the process. One interesting thing is we can feel the earthquake by ourselves. This museum shows earthquake of 1995 in Kobe.
