I went this place for coffee with my friend. We chose the cake and ordered drink in upstairs. I ordered the espresso, and had a one like I had in Italy! In the front yard of the shop, there is a cherry blossom tree. It would be nice to see the cherry blossom in a day light, or from the bar on the first floor with your favorite drink. Like you do in Italy, you can pay at the table. This place is only 3-4 minutes walk from JR Ashiya station. There are nice small shops around there.

My wife bought it for me. It is quite popular in this area so you have to go there earlier otherwise you will miss it. She was just able to get the smallest package of cookies. It was very nice, had very noble sweetness!!

I understand that there are several locations of this restaurant in Tokyo. We visited the one that is on Gion, close to the Kabuki theater. They specialize on dishes with eel. We had a big box with eel on rice for about 3200 yen, and it was very good. Staff was very nice as well.

Great food! This is a real Italian restaurant. Do not come here expecting pizzas - they don't serve any.
We had the antipasto which was nothing to write home about.
We also had their grilled steak which was very good but it can't be called anything special.
What we did have was their poached fish. Half a whole fish with skin on, simple braised with white wine, olive oil and lots of butter. It was fantastic! Afterwards, they take the leftover sauce and they make a pasta dish out of it. What you get is the tastiest bit of pasta for the evening.
We also had a couple of other pasta dishes but they just did not compare to that little bit of pasta we had after the main course.
They do have a tiny patio and the Italian cook comes out to say hello to everyone.
It is not fine dining destination, more of a country kitchen feel. Don't expect to just arrive and get seated, you need a reservation during peak hours.
No designated parking spots but plenty of pay parking nearby.
We are planning to come back.

My wife gifted me cookie and cream puff. Both of them, super! It was sweat but very sophisticated sweetness. Once you eat it you must feel craftsmanship!

There is often a line at this small shop. The baker studied in Germany at several bakeries and has a certificate as a Meister, a master of his craft, and the quality of the bread is world-class. This is easily the best bread I have had ever and I have eaten a lot of bread in Japan, the US, England or NZ; when I shared it with my foreign friends in Kyoto, they were also equally impressed.
This is not light, fluffy nutritionless comercial American Bread, nor is it bland French-style bread that can be bought almost anywhere in Japan. This is substantial, full-flavored and weighty German-styled bread. I suggest thin slicing it if you are not used to bread of this density and rich, nutty flavor.
The price for a loaf is a bit less than 700 ranging up to about 900 yen for loaf that, when thin sliced, will last 2-3 times longer than a loaf of regular bread. A half loaf will last one person about 4 days.
