This place is a sand bank in the middle of the ocean. Really cool place for snorkeling, or just enjoying the water in the middle of the ocean. Don't forget to bring your own snacks because there is no food or drinks for sale in there.

On he SW of the island there's a beautifull beach, known as Dentist's Beach, very protected from the winds and seas, where the cruising sailboats can sleep safely and also fills with boats on weekends. I could send you some nice photos of most of those places. Also there´s a floating bar/ restaurant that delivers your orders to your boat. On the Gipoia East and North side there are other beachs, albeit not as pristine and restaurants . Another very interesting place you didn't mention, is Saco do Céu, on Ilha Grande

We rented a small boat, my husband, my 12yo son and I, with fisherman in downtotwn Angra. The guy was very nice and took us around for about 5 hours. We snorkeled in Botinas Island, lots of small fish the yellow and black striped ones, some colorful ones. The water was clear enough....overall it was a very enjoyable day!

Ilha Grande is an incredible getaway. The trails, Beaches, people, all amazing. It's my second time visiting, and will not be my last. An easy recommendation (and this is applicable to all of Brasil), when they say "Feeds 2" on their menus, know that these portions feed AT LEAST three people. We had a large group of 15, ordered 7 of those dishes, and didn't even touch 3 plates (an unfortunate waste of food, as we weren't able to take the leftovers back to our pousada). My suggestion, at least 3 days to see the best of Ilha Grande, and be aware of the nature surrounding you. Don't leave trash, do respect the animals. Additionally, this is not a "luxury" getaway, there are no cars on the island, and the lights sometimes will go out. Appreciate the beauty and take all the hiccups as part of the journey.

Something must be done.
Last week I stopped by Praia do Dentista at Ilha da Gipóia, Angra dos Reis to acknowledge the Paradise is almost lost.
Overcrowded, even on an stormy week day, with too many boats splitting oil on the water and an improvised trash landfill on the right corner of the beach made the verdict: the dream scenario blue water white sand green forest beach is almost lost.

Fica no condomínio dos trabalhadores da usina nuclear. Precisa de autorização para entrar, mas vale a pena. Águas quentes e, apesar do nome, o mar é relativamente calmo, com poucas ondas

The church is very beautiful, be sure to be quick to get off the boat, as it gets crowded real fast and it gets harder to get a nice picture. The beach is a little polluted, but it's not terrible.
Definitely go, it was the last stop on our tour and it couldn't have been better.

Actually you get 4 things here for the price of one. A natural rock pool beside a small waterfall on the way, where you can swim and relax. A well preserved viaduct, which must have been awkward to construct. Then the waterfall itself, which you can stand under, and then you can continue to a lovely small beach (and a boat taxi back if you like). Everyone tends to do the Lopes Mendes beach first, but this is every bit as worthwhile.

On military property, the visitation must be scheduled
I have to pass inside it everytime, full of ilegal speed reducers.Sometimes they stop the transit for their purposes like at 8am ,and 6pm to raise or lower the flag. Nice, well preserved florest on its back
