Wicklow (Irish: Cill Mhantáin, meaning "church of the toothless one") is the county town of County Wicklow and the capital of the Mid-East Region in Ireland. Located south of Dublin on the east coast of the island, it has a population of 10,584 according to the 2016 census. The town is to the east of the N11 route between Dublin and Wexford. Wicklow is also linked to the rail network, with Dublin commuter services now extending to the town. Additional services connect with Arklow, Wexford and Rosslare Europort, a main ferry port. There is also a commercial port, mainly importing timber and textiles. The River Vartry is the main river which flows through the town.

After a long day in the countryside, we checked into Tinakilly and headed for their fine restaurant. Great table, great service, wonderful food. It was just exactly what we needed. Three of us ordered very different things and all were most taken with the offerings.

We ate in this restaurant the night before our friends' wedding. The food was very tasty and well presented. The service was excellent with explanations of what we were eating, including the 90 minute cheese served as an amuse bouche.

My wife and I had the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. The brown bread was delicious but the eggs watery and unseasoned. Staff were also quite unhelpful and abrupt, which was a real shame as we usually look forward to a warm and hospitable Irish welcome when visiting

Located in West Wicklow, at the end of the famous Wicklow Gap. Enjoy the majestic scenery & visit the production sites of “Braveheart”, “Michael Collins” & “Excalibur”. Established in 1790, this family-run, traditional Irish pub & restaurant, provides an all-day food service using local produce, fresh fish & delicious homemade cuisine. The Hollywood Inn is renowned for exceptional food & warm hospitality.
In spite of already having a party of 22 booked they accomodated us in the bar ( which often has food served there),There was a very varied choice on the menu including Turkey. The starters included the incredible " Hollywood Inn smokies " (Smoked Haddock) a great favourite of mine,.Spiced chicken wings ( one portion would easily do 2 people ) with a choice of how "hot" you wanted them and soup. The mains included their own "Hollywood Inn Burger", well known favourite, Fish and Chips ( to die for ) and Vegetarian tartlets with salad. Steaks cooked to taste and seasonal fair. Desserts included cheese cake, brownies, & Ice cream . As it was a special celebration we had our own cake which they kindly cut and served for us.The staff were very efficient , attentive & friendly without being intrusive.Their wine list was superb and their House Wines increadable. As usual there was no pressure on us to "eat up and leave" as there is in some places. We have eaten there several times and have always come away satisfied. I would recommend The Hollywood Inn to anyone interested in good food at a reasonable price.

Food was of course delicious but coffee very poor therefore one star down. I sign up for course and was very curious about that place. I love healthy chocolate bars and main course with salads was really tasty and filling. Now coffee was bitter and just horrible so I left it behind. I would not order coffee again but I would gladly back for food itself. Definitely good stop if you care about your diet.

We were staying in the guest house next door whilst looking for a wedding venue and had this restaurant recommended to us.
Everything we ate was outstanding, superb chicken/duck liver parfait, mouth-watering sirloin steaks, sticky toffee pudding with caramel sauce.........the whole thing beautifully presented.
Service is outstanding without being OTT and the wine list has a lovely selection. We opted for a Tempranillo which was smooth and velvety and yes, we did have a second bottle ! We met the chef/proprietor Paddy the following day and just had to congratulate him on his wonderful cuisine. I'd love to return.

This certificate is only awarded to 10% of eating establishments in the whole World !!!!
We found Halpin's after a disappointing search for something veggie friendly that wasn't just chips. The special was butternut squash pie which was utterly delicious! There was a good choice of lunch time fare for us non meat eaters. The owner was really helpful and gave our dog a couple of dog biscuits. It was nice to feel that she was welcome and not just tolerated. The restaurant is tucked away off the main road but with plenty of people watching opportunity. Well worth a visit.

I work nearby so it's very handy for me to go in here for lunch but I prefer to take away the food. The last time I sat in they were very busy and by the time I got my lunch I had to get them to wrap it up as I had to go back to work. The food is lovely though, and the soups are amazing but get in early for the soup because sometimes its gone before lunch!
