Refined and modern cuisine in a 19th century building with a lovely garden. Chef worked in Noma and other michelin star restaurants. Please visit site for more info and pictures.
we had a 'after meeting dinner' ... It was 'smashing' !The sevice was almost perfect... But...the food was more than outstanding !! Since I was invited ,I cannot judge about the price,I can imagine it was rather expensive ! But for that quality .A michelin...MoreThank you Cris for these nice words! Happy you enjoyed! Kind regards, Lies, Owner & host

Very good Greek cuisine, actaually how I like it. Basic stuff with good and fresh ingredients and not that posh "over dishing" what they use nowadays in mediterrainien restaurants.
Service was very good, with an eye for details (changing knifes for the right dishes) and of course the usual Ouzo on the house after finishing. Nice experience, definetely will come back.

I had the pleasure to have a very delicious dinner at this cozy restaurant in Wetteren. The atmosphere is pleasant and calm - perfect to enjoy aperitif outside during summer evenings and continue with a delicious meal inside. The staff is friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place!

Keeping the level 5 valuation for exceptional cases, I guess I have some explanation to do here.
When you go to a 3-star Michelin restaurant, you can/should be more demanding than for a non-quoted restaurant. Den Vlaschaert in Massemen, near Ghent, is a no-nonsense restaurant that is not aiming for the top but it is definitely one of those exceptions that gives you a WOW experience. The quality of the food is constant and competes with top restaurants.
On Sundays, you can enjoy the "suggestions menu". When we went, it consisted of a glass of champaign, a starter, sorbet, main course and desert or coffee and matching wines. This all for 68 EUR pp.
For the starter, we had the choice between gaspacio and cannelloni of ham and cheese. The gaspacio happened to be filled with half a lobster! Just delicious ! The cannelloni was ham stuffed with mascarpone with herbs served with a light salad and a superb vinaigrette.
The sorbet was a lemon sorbet with limoncello and a few leaves of mint. Very tasty !
The main course consisted of a swordfish with vegetables and a delicious sauce . Although swordfish should be a bit rosé, I would have preferred it a bit more done.
Portions at Den Vlaschaert are not royal, they are gigantic. For that reason, I can't comment on the desert because we went for the coffee.
This is not the first time I've been to this restaurant and each time, they keep surpising me. This restaurant is really worth a detour when you are in the neighbourhood. Guaranteed, you won't be disappointed whatever you choose.

Of all restaurants in the area of Wetteren, this is our very favorite. The food is fresh and rich in flavor, always served in good portions. Leon, the owner and his staff, serve well, and always with a smile. This is the only inland place where I am guaranteed to find fresh fish (born and raised at the coast, I know what fresh fish is, and what is not). On the first floor, there is space for larger groups. In the (short Belgian) summer, there is space to sit on a small Terrace on the first floor, or you can sit at the street side. If you are in the area, highly recommended!

Good Greek cuisine, lots of classical dishes to choose from. A little minus is the oversized Television on the wall. Good for a beer bar, sports cafe, but not for a restaurant. Staff is friendly, food is good... enough for a nice dinner and worth a visit.
