Family owned for three generations, Soljans Estate Winery & Cafe is located at the gateway to Kumeu Wine Country, Auckland's heritage wine region. Sample award-winning wines at the cellar door then enjoy exceptional New Zealand cuisine in the highly acclaimed winery cafe.
we stopped at soljans winery and cafe on a private tour while in Auckland. our wine tasting for ten people was informative and included small samples of five different wines produced from grapes gathered from different areas in new zealand. following the wine tasting, we enjoyed a tasty lunch chosen from limited options menu that is offered to groups. the options included red meat, white meat, vegetarian, and also could accommodate those with gluten intolerance. the lunch also included dessert and a glass of wine/beer/soda and a cup of coffee/tea. we were all very happy with our food! the only thing that was a concern was the service. it seemed as though our order had been lost, and our tour guide had to remind the staff that we were on a tight schedule. even with that concern, i would not hesitate to recommend stopping at soljans for the wine or the food!

Ordered toasted sandwiches to takeaway, waited well over half an hour for our order to be brought out. The cafe wasn't particularly busy. It seemed someone from every table went up to the counter to enquire as to how long their order was taking. And the staff didn't seem that bothered.
The Sandwich was really good, the piece of cake from the cabinet was good too. However, there is no excuse for the length of time we had to wait.
Wouldn't bother going again.

The drinks came quick enough but we waited and waited but the food didn't come. When I went back to the counter they had cleared the food from the display counter. Our food had totally been forgotten. This was bad kama after we had laughed at the table next to us as they had ordered and paid for 3 plates and they only brought one. Time for an upgrade of staff as the food was good and the view from the out side Seating is magic.

The Tasting Shed has one simple philosophy – a place where wine craves food. Expect to experience a unique environment where everything we are about is celebrating great food and wine pairings in a gorgeous wine country, less than half an hour outside of central Auckland.
Our driver had made reservation for us for lunch. It was awesome. We had the Lamb (tender, juicy) and Broccoli ......with bread tray (as an American, I don't get this pay for bread, but it was excellent). Good vino too. Friendly staff and fun place

When we walked in and the restaurant was full including big groups heart sank as I assumed service would be slow and sloppy. Couldn't have been more wrong. Service was excellent. Very attentive and non pushy. Everything timed perfectly. Food was excellent with very generous portions. Will definitely be back but if you go on a weekend night I'd recommend you book in advance.

Good genuine indian food to takeaway or eat in, friendly staff, cost much the same as most indian restaurants. Tried others in the hendersaon area this is by far the best food.

Once inside you forget that you are in the middle of a random carpark between burger King and a forgotten movie theater. The place is very lively with separate bar /restaurant area. The staff were very Friendly and helpful - the kind of service you remember.
Food came within a reasonable time and all enjoyed their meals. Steak was actually cooked as ordered which is a 'rare' find these days. Only issue was that the tables were a bit cramped. Overall a very good experience.

We were drawn to the restaurant by seeing how much fun people seemed be be having. We were not disappointed - the restaurant was buzzing all through the evening, the drinks were smashing and the food was yummy. I must mention the lamb in cumin flavour, which was simply terrific.

Good friends organised a dinner at Chikos. Looked at the menu from home and was a little surprised with the lack of vegetarian options. Place was very busy on our arrival at 7.00pm on a Saturday. Venue is new and very smart. Waiting staff were professional and seemed happy to be there. Darling and I chose a share platter with King prawns, battered mussels and chicken. Well cooked and yummy condiments such as fried Kale, beetroot relish and what tasted like a Miso creation. Ordered a side of wok cooked vegies that were spot on. Our friends had the lamb main which on this occasion was lamb romp. Her one was a lentil based gravy filled delight. His was the gluten free option so was a little plainer but still much enjoyed. Dessert was an unexpected delight. Around a dozen hand made treats. I loved the tiramisu and my Darling had an affagato. We had a side of coconut ice cream which was spot on. The coconut brûlée was small but tasty. Dinner for four with mains, drinks Deserts and coffees for $209. Great value and will be back to try the rest of the desserts.

I have heard great reports about this restaurant but today the food was good but the restaurant lacked service. We were seated and order taken after about 10 minutes. Once we our meal arrived and being the only people in the restaurant you would thought the service would be superior but no not at all.
We looked for staff no one around to take drink orders. We had to get up and go to the counter where we waited for the yoghurt/smoothies guy to stop talking, so we could get near the counter to pay the bill. When asked how was everything? I replied you forgot about us? Sorry was the reply I was watching the counter, while staff were eating their lunch? Pretty poor.
