We ate at the pizzeria in the evening. The pizzas were nice, big and cheap. The restaurant looks more like a take away and it lacks atmosphere. The staff was friendly however.

Chicken Caesar and grilled chicken. Food above average.
Nice outdoor Seating. English menus. Short wait for food but no one should be in a hurry eating lunch in this location. Service friendly and attentive.
$33 for 2 which is very fair. Good choice for a pleasant break from touring.

The Vadstena Klosterhotel Restaurant provided not only great food and wine but also an experience that allowed ourselves to be transported back many years ago when the monastery was operating. The service too was divine and I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

I can't believe that somebody actually gave this a bad review without even tasting their food. The reason that they don't take Reservations before 6 p.m. is because that is when the restaurant opens for the evening. We phoned and made a reservation when the clock stroke 18:00, no problem. However if you want to sit outside you can't make a reservation (only inside tables), which means that you have to arrive early if you want one of those tables.
This restaurant has got excellent raw materials for their food. The menu is quite small, which I think is really good since they have specialized in the dishes they serve and perfect them. Personally I can recommend the fishdishes, the salmon was wonderfully cooked and also the local "Vätternröding" was excellent. My husband tried their tapasdishes and was never let down. We went back to this restaurant the day after our first visit since we really enjoyed our first visit. The first time we sat outside in the garden and the second day we sat inside since the weather was worse. I must say that I prefered to sit inside since the interior was quite lovely with inspiration from a lake-theme.
The staff was so wonderful. The first evening there were two waitresses, both very nice and serviceminded. The second day there was only one of the girls working, me and my husband both suspect that they was one (wo)man short that evening. She must have been totally exhausted because she ran all the time from table to table. But this didn't let her serviceminded attitude down. She was lovely towards all of the visiting guests.
Pricing is a bit high, but I'd say it's value for your money since you get such excellent food. In other words - you get what you pay for!
Might be good to know that the kitchens in Sweden usually closes around 9 or 10 p.m.
Thank you for two wonderful visits! I would recommend all people going to Vadstena to try this restaurant. It might be a bit tricky to find since it is a block away from the main street in Vadstena, but it's not far away from the city centre.

Wow. I haven't eaten this well in a long time. Restaurant Munkklostret really impressed me with its impeccable food. I ordered starter, main course and desert, and they all were equally fantastic. I don't have anything to complain regarding the food, it was truly top notch. Thoroughly recommend this place if you're a gourmand or appreciate good food.
The place is great too, with a historic surrounding and nice ambient. Staff were professional but could be slightly more friendly. Prices were high, but justified.

Most restaurants in the area have more or less the same menue year after year.
Röding and Fläskfilé ( fish and pork) and then there are the numerous Pizza restaurants of course. Hörnet in Vadstena has a totally different menue with special dishes.
5 different starters and 3 Main dishes plus desserts. We have now tried them all except for the desserts. All dishes are based on high quality raw materials , cooked and presented in a very tasteful way. One alternative to starter and main dish is to take 2-3 starters as Tapas. The dishes are not really " child friendly" but I think they also do separate foods for children. I heard other tables order pasta etc. The service is quick and kind. All in all this is a nice restaurant and different from many others. It is usually full and Reservations is needed. Pretty good value for money.

My husband and I went in for a look on Ladugård206 design boutique, a very nice little but well assorted store with the latest trends on design items like porcelain, leather boots/bags (italian) some furniture and decor, plus they also have Annie Sloan Chalk paint that is very trendy right now. Our surprise was to see the very nice displayed Sunday Brunch .. from smoothies (2 different kinds) to sallads, meats, sauces, sill, cheese etc etc, very good, yummie and so nice. The host (cashier) was so incredibly welcoming and kind, he asked us to sit as long as we wanted and eat as much as we pleased, we will for sure go back with friends and family, is the kind of place you want to keep as a secret for yourself and your dearest only..a real gem with delicious food. It works really good for couples, families, friends work or just to treat yourself. Make sure to look at their website as they do have different fun things for girls or just boys, etc etc..

The setting is perfect, the staff are friendly and good at their job, and we liked the food so much we kept coming back. Being an admirer of fish I can truly recommend their Arctic char, even their pizza was tasty.

Vadstena is a cute little town. We looked for some restaurant reviews and decided to try Rojas. It did not disappoint. The pulled pork Sandwich was tasty. The chicken soft taco was good. The chicken caesar salad was a bit overdrenched with dressing though. All in all, a good find.
