Family-friendly Scottish restaurant in BothwellCricklewood is a family-friendly restaurant in the heart of leafy Bothwell and provides a welcoming atmosphere and quality home-cooked food. Under 18s are welcome in the bar and restaurant areas until 20:00 each evening, and wheelchair access is available in the main bar and a small area of the restaurant.Simple ingredients, quality foodThe restaurant is popular for its traditional Sunday roast, and fans of the classics will be pleased to hear that items such as the homemade steak pie, fish & chips, and firm favourite macaroni cheese are amongst Cricklewood's offerings.Accessibility to BothwellCricklewood is on Hamilton Road in Bothwell and has limited on-site parking, although some street parking is available nearby. Visitors can also find several bus stops close to the restaurant.Free wifi access is available every day of the week, ideal if you've got a working lunch or just feel like a nosey on Facebook.
I have to say the Cricklewood really let us down this time. I'd been here before on two other occasions and the food and wine was very good. I wouldn't be writing this review if I thought I didn't have to. But unfortunately on this occasion, I think the restaurant should take note of what I am about to say. The staff were very accommodating and helpful so that was great. The cocktails were lovely. However, it is supposed to be an up-market gastro pub/restaurant/bar which should live up to its name. I write reviews all the time and I would like to think I give an honest approach and one that is worthy of 'constructive' criticism. I am also a cook myself and I know the difference between insipid and tasty.
We had ordered the BEEF AND BEER PIE which was supposed to come with thick cut chips, instead, it came with old saggy wedge cut potatoes, which were not pleasant to the eye and did not taste good at all.
And the beef and beer pie, well, what can I say? Terrible. I think the only good thing about that meal was the lovely golden crusty pastry itself. The beef cuts were awful, all chewy, dry and tough - a bit like an old leather boot. The gravy wasn't a gravy at all. If it was a real chef in the kitchen he or she should know how to make a decent gravy. It was really awful. It lacked consistency, taste, seasoning and colour. I would not recommend this dish. I am aware the restaurant were always advertising for chefs. The last chef we had was different, I'm sure of it. The chef this time may have been a new recruit. Well I'm sorry and I'm not, a place of this so-called standard should not be serving this low quality food!

New Restaurant
I usually visit the Hamilton restaurant so it was nice to come to Blantyre for a change. The restaurant is lovely and modern.
We visited on a Monday evening and were able to get a table without a booking so that was good.
The food was fab and the portion sizes were great. The southern fried chicken is delicious and the tablet sundae is definitely worth a try.

Susan Brown opened Humble Pie Bakery Ltd in 2010. After thirty years as a teacher and thirteen years after first visiting the then fledgeling Magnolia Bakery in Manhattan she took the plunge with her first commercial venture which has been enthusiastically received, and to much critical acclaim, by fans of traditional baking. Susan's aim is to make cupcakes that taste as delicious as they look beautiful. The recipes are her own, developed and refined over the years - her cakes and butter cream are lighter and less sugary than the American equivalents and more suited to the UK palette. In only its second year of business, Humble Pie won the Regional and National Gold Award for 'Best Individual Cake in Scotland' at the 2012 Scottish Baker of the Year Awards, a competition voted for by customers and judged by a panel of master bakers. Unlike many of the current proliferation of 'virtual' cupcake businesses, Humble Pie is a real micro bakery and cake shop located in Bothwell, on the outskirts of Glasgow. At our stylish shop you can see and sample our cakes before ordering or just treat yourself to one of our cupcakes for fun, accompanied by one of our speciality hot beverages - we serve Tazo Teas, Nespresso Coffees and Spanish Hot Chocolate. Our cakes are baked fresh on site daily and have proved to be so popular we regularly sell out by the end of the day. We would be delighted to work with you to produce bespoke, hand crafted cakes for your special occasion, be it a wedding, christening or kids' party. Email Susan and book an appointment to come in and discuss your requirements. Our aim is to exceed your expectations and grow our network of delighted clients. Why not come and join us on Facebook.
This is SUCH an asset to the Southside of Glasgow. Top quality baking (always wins at the Scottish awards) using only the best ingredients well; innovative and delightful; beautiful packaging that makes such a lovely gift, far better than any flowers or wine; spotless, professional, a real treat in a humdrum world.
But it's cake and coffee- if you're looking for steak and chips go somewhere else!
And the staff are wonderful- gorgeous Glasgow girls working way below their abilities- incidentally, there is the clue to any poor reviews- jealousy. I can think of no other reason. This place is just superb, and in every way. I love it!

Family group various ages booking a la carte menu ,food as always excellent BUT the service poor, left sitting with dirty plates no effort to remove them had to ask !! then no one approached with a dessert menu again had to ask!! and the restaurant was not busy ,staff stood behind the bar chatting. Our bill was over £200 so I think we deserved better ,there are a lot of new restaurants in the area so competition is becoming fearsome so better sort this out or your regular customers will desert you.

A warm welcome to the Crown Jewel Restaurant where you will discover a refreshing approach to dining out - combining elegance without pretension, attentive service, warmth and outstanding value for money. From our extensive menu you have the choice of wholesome Punjabi fare, the earthy delights of the Tandoor (clay oven) as well as the robust cuisine of the frontiers, and of course, some authentic Mediterranean mouth watering recipes for those who like to sample something a little different. Sould your favourite dish not be on the menu, don't hesitate to ask our chef - who is renowned for making dishes with emphasis on freshness and distinct spicing - and whenever possible we will do our utmost to accommodate.
This is a fabulous restaurant. The staff are pleasant, welcoming and attentive. The food is just delicious and great value. I would recommend this to anyone. From couples to parties, it suits all. Depending on what time of day you arrive and what you order this can be pleasantly inexpensive or a bit dearer, but never disappointing.

Went with another couple and had a great experience!
The food was great and when one of our party asked for a change to their dish from potatoes to pasta it was done no problem. I think the waitresses deserve a special mention as it was their attention to detail and friendliness that elevated the evening to a different level.
Well worth a visit!

I was very impressed by the lunch menu at Leonardo’s. I had mussels in white wine and sea bass which came in a delicious sauce with a platter of very good vegetables. The 2 course menu is only £8.95 which, given the quality of the food, was excellent value. Service was very friendly and professional.

First of all, service was fast, friendly and very efficient - every request was followed to the letter - great!
My wife and I had a simple lunch today - she had a steak main and sticky toffee pudding and I had fish and chips.
The "medium rare" steak was slightly over-cooked for my wife but still very tasty and the cianfotta was a bit too cool (temperature - not spice) for her but she still enjoyed the dish overall.
My fish and chips was delicious - crispy batter; lightly cooked fish and chips made from potatoes rather than reconstituted potatoes made for a great dish.
My wife also had the sticky toffee pudding which she enjoyed but, surprisingly, not so much the ice cream - probably simply a personal foible.
I have to admit to not being a great fan of standard Italian coffees but the coffee here was perfectly acceptable.
The lavatories were spotlessly clean which also adds to the positive review.
