After a wonderful morning in totnes both me and my partner enjoy finding new places to eat. After some very friendly staff served us we were looking forward to our soup and pulled pork/chicken (can’t remember what it was supposed to be) only to be disappointed in quality of food. The presentation was wonderful unfortunately the flavour of the 4 dishes left us still hungry after we could only consume two side dishes, and we’re not particularly fussy about eating what’s put in front of us, I think this may even be a first.

Eco-friendly cafe offering a constantly changing selection of tasty, hand prepared dishes making the best use of seasonal and local produce. Dairy, gluten, wheat & sugar free diets are all catered for. Drinks are all organic from wines & beers to juices, teas and fairtrade coffees. Prices are very reasonable especially considering over 50% of the restaurant's purchases are organic. Children are welcome - books & toys available. Lovely, sunny, secluded walled garden.
Vegans and Veggies take note. Willow cook delicious and imaginative vegan and vegetarian dishes, from locally sourced producers. Large portions at a reasonable price.
Ok, so sometimes we want to have a quiet lunch without having to listen to other people's noisy kids. This place has a seperate family room; everyone's happy.
We left feeling full and delighted. Highly recommended.

Eaten here several times over the years and it's a great pub with great food and the pies are stunning as always. Friendly, welcoming staff and owner. Only marked it down because the staff on this occasion didn't clear our table or ask if we wanted desserts despite walking past us several times and clearing other peoples who dined later than us. So sadly we left and went for dessert somewhere else but still love those pies and will definitely be back.

Over cooked beef which was also dry and appeared to have spent the afternoon under a heat lamp. Had to wait over five minutes between the beef being brought to the table and the vegetables being delivered. Staff were indifferent expect the girl taking the drinks and food order. If I hadn't been so hungry I wouldn't have eaten my meal.

We go here often because;
- it's the best place to eat in Dartington, and is really well run
- we are always warmly welcomed by familiar faces - the staff are REALLY excellent
- this is a pub, but the food is very good and very consistent, and the specials are ambitiously presented
- it's a beautiful fourteenth century inn with a nice atmosphere, and live music on some nights
- the wine list is reliable, affordable and good quality - the Zinfandel we tried this week was very good, and not a wine we would ordinarily go for
Two TINY improvements would make it even better...
- offering a changing guest beer from local Breweries - Otter is nice but just a bit unexciting....
- A bit more adventure in spicing & seasoning in one or two dishes (garlic, chilli etc): we understand that this might not suit some customers, but it would be good to be offered the option.
Otherwise, its a great local, and a great asset to Dartington village!

Daytime cafe set in the woods alongside Berry Pomeroy Castle. The cafe serves fresh sandwiches, soups - a variety of delicious breakfasts and lunches - cakes and homemade cream teas, coffees and teas. Locally sourced products. We also cater for birthday parties, anniversaries, weddings and so much more..
Been 2/3 times when visting the castle. Came during Oct half term with my son and had a wonderful full English brekky and a pot of tea.
Food is always good and homemade. The scones/cakes previously we've sampled have been great to.
Iif you're not visiting the Castle you'd probably miss it - but worth a visit anyway and the setting is delightful. Nice open fire/wood burner going too in the off season :)

They always have great specials as well as an extensive menu. The vegetarian options are plentiful and the quality of every dish I have enjoyed has been fantastic.
The space itself is welcoming and on a sunny day they have a lovely small garden area.
The cakes, coffees & hot chocolates are all delicious.
A brilliant option for brunch, lunch or a quick coffee.
I’ll look forward to returning soon!

A real Devon Inn. The Pig & Whistle looks traditional and serves traditional. Supporting local from land to sea. A warm welcome from the Landlords & staff. Log Burners in winter to warm you; a decked Terrace area in Summer. Large car park for patrons. Less than 2 miles from Totnes along the A381 between Totnes & Newton Abbot. Real home cooked food by our wonderful chef's
What a great pub. It has everything you need for a really enjoyable meal, great pub food with a large and varied menu with plenty of delicious meals, traditional and imaginative options. The staff are very attentive and friendly...the ales are cold and the fire is roaring. We ate the belly pork with stuffing and mash, and the charred salmon burger with sweet potato fries...finished it with the huuuuge sundae to share. We all left feeling full and happy. Top marks to the Pig and Whistle! we will come again.

Seating upstairs as well as downstairs. Had a chai latte and a brownie. The brownie was really nice the chai latte wasn't strong enough for me unfortunately. I like my chai lattes quite strong but the one here was weak. I liked the ambience of the place and I like the decor etc. Probably would try a different drink next time. Not the cheapest place here but not mega bucks either. All in all a nice place and I would come back again.
