The restaurant at Engo Gard is inspired by both french and nordic cousine with the use of local produce. Menus at Engo Gard are set by the chef in advance. Hence most of our guests place responsibility firmly in our hands when it comes to choosing food and wine. This requires a great commitment on our part as we must constantly focus our knowledge and ideas on providing the best possible combination of dishes and wines. The restaurant and hotel are open all year.
I've visited this place several times, both in business and privately, and also stayed the night on occasions. This time we went for a "jazz-lunch", and on a rare, beautiful summer day with cool jazz from a superb trio, we got off to a great start. As for the food, well - the starter, a salmon tartar tasted absolutely nothing. It was finished in 2 bites so it didn't matter. The chicken leg was tasty with a few, bite-size potatoes, and the dessert also good. Engø Gard is known for their small portions; we were guests at a wedding there some years back, and some of the guests ended up eating dinner rolls. With the prices they charge you would expect to be full.
This time we were not too impressed with the service either. The waiter was cheerful enough, but in a place like this you should not have to ask for knives for the main course, and the wine should be chilled as we asked for.
The local newspaper always roll the dice to 6, which make me wonder if the restaurant knows when they will visit?
No, I'm not so impressed with the place anymore, but of course the setting is fantastic. In my opinion, some of the restaurants in Tønsberg serve just as good, or even better food.

The food here is pretty good so no complaints other than a little more choice would have been nice. The menu is pretty limited but my food was very tasty – Shrimp to start and Veal to follow. Service was good and the beer was cold – Thanks.

This is the best pizza around... Best service and that is quality, hearty, food homemade food. I can reccomend to everyone. .
The pizza here is nicely made, thin base topping right out to the edges. I had a hot and spicy pizza and the chef enquired which kinds of chilli and how hot I liked it. My mate ordered one with bolognese and he asked whether he would like the sauce with onion or without or with mushroom.
It was great value too! Very happy.

Kismat Indisk Mat & Bar - recently opened - excellent food, great service, wonderful atmosphere - suitable for romantic dinners or group dinner parties.
This has become our favorite restaurant in Sandefjord. We often pick up take out, but also occasionally have a meal in the restaurant.
Service is professional and friendly. The food is usually very good and tasty. The portions are adequate, but in general they could add a little more meat in the portions.
The degree of hot various. I usually go for medium, sometime this is perfect, while other times it comes out very mild ( and boring). I once tried medium +, but that was not for me, the food was so hot that it was almost inedible.
They have indian beer, they serve a starter of poppadoms and various dips. All in all, I feel that the restaurant is very good and recommendable.

Casual Seafood Restaurant run by Bocuse d'Or winner Geir Skeie, on the quay in Sandefjord.
Excellent location on the pier besides the famous fish mongers, with very hospitable manager that took time to converse at the same time being professionally efficient. The food was exquisite, and seafood was our choice this time. Highly recommended!Hi Ger T. Thank you for the great review. We are so happy that you enjoyed our restaurant and wish you a great Christmas!

Arriving in Sandefjord in the evening we were recommended this restaurant by our hotel. We had pizzas from the wood fired stone oven, and some nice desserts. They have a good assortment of Norwegian craft beer, and a nice sea view. The tomato sauce on the pizzas are particularly good and has a stunning sweetness from fresh ripe tomatoes. Dinner for two, (pizza, beers and dessert ) ended up at approx 800 NOK before tips. (July 2016) Great value for money - Well worth a visit!

Hvasser is an old fishing port with refueling facilities, and major tourist traffic in summer. Giuseppe at Solsiden offers exquisite Italian dishes whether it is for dinner or lunch. These can be enjoyed in the cozy restaurant, or as Take away if you're on the go They also have a special coffee menu, ice bar and delicious cakes!
Beautifully situated in the Hvasser harhour, can be difficult to get table on hot summer days.
Great for all kind of occations (very unformal though). The swedish waiter was very nice and worked as fast as he could running up and down the stairs with pizzas and drinks.
Great pizza, garlic saus and pizza saus incl in the price on all American style pizzas.
Serves the beer in 0,5 litre glasses, which is rare in Norway
