Eat here on Sunday night. Didn't need to book. Candlelit tables & old fashioned ambience added to this traditional restaurant. Went for the Limburg specials Blackpudding with honey - delicious as a starter & new season white asparagus served with little potato balls & salmon fillet with hollandaise sauce for main - lovely. Try the Dutch Geneva Gin as an aperitif!

This wonderful restaurant is nestled in the historic "white" village of Thorn, The Netherlands.
The owner J. Tonnaer is also the Head Chef and takes great care in providing his guests with the most pleasurable dining experience!
The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, there are only about 10 tables so Reservations are required.
The food is simply superb!
On our last visit I started with a delicious oxtail soup (which was to die for), grilled shrimp for my main and the fresh fruit sabayon for dessert. Everything was just wonderful and delicious and I always appreciate it when a Chef comes out into the dining room to inquire with his guests if they are enjoying their dinner/evening.
This is really a lovely restaurant and worth the trip!

This pancake house is situated on a corner location opposite the church that dominates the village and is significant to the villages history.
There are numerous sweet and savoury pancakes to choose from (approx 50, possibly more), so many in fact it was hard to choose. In the end I went for a half and half which meant I had a savoury option on one half and a sweet option on the other half. The pancakes are very big and filling, so this was perfect for ,y needs as there was no way I could have eaten both a whole savoury and then a while sweet option. I was with a very large group of approx 30 people and the service was swift and efficient. We didn't have to wait long for our pancakes and everyone seemed happy with their choices, some even took some home in a 'doggy bag' as they were unable to eat them all. I would definitely recommend you stop here and treat yourself to a pancake if visiting this quaint cobblestoned village, known as 'the White village' and with a history dating back centuries of having once been the only village purely for noble ladies in The Netherlands

This review is based on just one visit on a balmy August evening, spent in the hotel's courtyard. So take it for what it can or cannot represent. The setting at least was pleasant. The indoor restaurant, where we had breakfast, would also provide for a nice setting.
As we were staying at the hotel and arriving rather late, we decided to have dinner and chose the so-called "surprise" set menu for 33 Euros (three courses). You choose for either fish or meat version (no vegetarian option was suggested, although the à la carte does have a number of vegetarian dishes).
If you lay your fate in the chef's hands, you might expect something surprising: alas, not many surprises came our way. The fish option was a starter of scampi, smoked trout and salmon, mains was rather overdone seawolf and dessert a mix of chocoloate mousse and ice cream. To meet with a lactose problem, the other dessert was an unsurprising bowl of cut fruit.
After a long day's cycling, this was barely enough food to get us through the night. The cooking was OK, the surprise for us was the lack of invention.
To add a plus: contrary to many a restaurant in this part of the world (certainly in Belgium), this place did not frown on patrons who do not order a usually overpriced bottle of wine. We sampled excellent beers that were excellent matches with the food.

the couple man wife are very nice and wellcoming. The menus are chosen by the chef , but excellent quality, of course small changes are possible, the restaurant is located at the pittoresque square and the restaurant is very well decorated and furnished. High quality

We visited Da Vinci already several times over more than 20 years, and our most recent visit dated from 8 years ago. Based upon our earlier experiences and the two Michelin star rating, our expectations for lunch were high. But we also visited many top restaurants in the Netherlands and abroad in the intermediate years, so our taste has further developed. The welcoming was nice and we started with champaign in the ground floor lounge area, with distant river views. Several amuses/appetizers were served. We noted that the stylish interior had not been changed since at least 15 years. The same went for the dishes, decoration, etc. And although we don't expect interiors to change frequently, it suddenly looked dull to us. We went downstairs for the restaurant area, with no external views. But our table had kitchen view: always exciting! We noted the young team hard and very disciplined at work, sometimes directed by the chef. Our six course lunch consisted of lovely dishes, of course, but without ever becoming very memorable. No excitement, new taste combinations, new structures at all. Best dish was a small cup of broccoli soup with a foam of piccalilly. We had expensive ingredients in extremely small portions, like one sliced coquille being the core of the dish, with many other ingredients aside lacking unity. The accompanying wines were also served in small protions, at one moment we even thought the sommelier misunderstood us for having ordered a so called Bob-arrangement. Service was kind and efficient, but we expected more. The young sommelier talked so fast and articulated so poor that we couldn't understand him in many cases. During previous visits chef Margot showed up at the tables, but not this time. Host Petro didn't make much of a conversation either today. We concluded that Da Vince is a very good restaurant, but it doesn't surprise nor excite us anymore. And than the bill feels as too high.

Chambor only has one menu a day, 4 dishes. Our stomach was small and we discussed the problem. So we had 1x starter and soup and 1x starter and main course. The starter - a tuna carpaccio with ample salad and a marvelous dressing - was delicious. The main course, a fish, was exactly how it should be. And all this with a waitress who was very forthcoming, attentive and help full in spite of the bigger group of people populating one large table. I can only recommend to go there and enjoy a dinner in this comfortable (yes, the ambiance was good as well) restaurant!

The Herberg Stadt Stevenswaert is a place with good food, but unfortunately that food does not compare spectacularly to the price. In my mind I always have to compare it to the other great restaurant in Stevensweert (Chambor) and unfortunately Stadt Stevenswaert loses in that battle for me. That's why I have rated the Herberg Stadt Stevenswaert at average.
However, I can imagine people prefer choice and are willing to pay a premium for it. For those people, Stadt Stevenswaert is definitely a good option.

The restaurant is located on the side of a beautiful lake in Panheel, close to Roermond. The building itself is really stylish and modern. Outside there are hip design bars with purple lights and candlight. The restaurant is on the top floor, so it functions a the roof of the Terrace below. You enter the restaurant via a long stairs, with candle lights on the side. The interior has the same modern touch: it's edgy, with purple lights and gigantic light bulbs. I really liked it.
The staff is so kind. They welcomed us with some nice beers at the bar and an appetizer of kangaroo meat. We went for a four course meal, with fish, pigeon, duck and chocolate. It was a delight.

Stunning food, stunning service, stunning evening. The food is well thought and inventive. We had a selection of wine with each course which complimented the food perfectly. The staff are knowledgable, easy to talk to and soo friendly! The restaurant is neatly styled and cosy. Fantastic.
