El Ciruelo

On weekdays, often a place where you can calm look at the beautiful mountainous surroundings because it is not that much filled, you can enjoy exquisit meals and the friendliness of the waiters.
On weekends and holidays, you sit among many people in this open air restaurant, and get in spite of overly busy waiters your special desires for your meal fulfilled.
It is not inexpensive - but this is simply to pay for an exquisit meal and service.

Los Colorines

Reviewed By thoughtfuldiner - Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Nothing really enthusing in this large restaurant with open kitchen, but certainly an acceptable option after the steep walk to the pyramid and a stroll in town. I liked best a lentil soup, with many vegetables and with the lentils cooked just right, while I did not like a limp and flavourless Chile poblano. Their mole in a chicken dish was Ok though far from the best I've had in Mexico. The chicken was overcooked as they tend to do in Mexico, but this was particularly so.
Service was a tad slow but polite. I liked the setting, with people cooking and prepping in front of customers and the giant pots for soups and stews in full view. Prices are adequate for the quality.

Having dealt with the chaos that is Carnaval for a day and a half, we thought having dinner above it all might be a pleasant change for our last night in town. And we certainly weren't disappointed!
With the exception of a family of four, we had the restaurant to ourselves and enjoyed a placid dinner of tasty entrees. Impossible not to thoroughly enjoy the ambiance!
We would return on future trips to Tepoztlan!

Quite a pretty little place, too. Nice assortment of wall decorations and feels spacious, though it's not large. Does not look like a 'typical' Mexican restaurant - more blond furniture, for ex.
Service was swift - many pizza (and calzone) choices. Prices moderate. Size choices go from generous-sized 'individual pizza' on up.

I love this place. Fabulous food and impeccable service. The perfect place for a bit of a splurge. Have had lunch there 4 or 5 times in the last 6 months and will continue to do so. One caveat... best to avoid peak weekends as when full, the kitchen tends to get a bit overwhelmed.

I went for breakfast twice. They have an Italian espresso machine, excellent service, delicious tiny muffins and great bread and butter that comes with whatever you order. They have an authentic menu, and lovely plate prep. The only thing is it is overpriced. A full taco dinner in the plaza will cost you about two USD; at this restaurant it's about 4 times that. Still, reasonable, just geared towards tourists with cash.

Nice location if you sit on the balcony but food is not very good. Stringy meat and bland empanadas most def not Argentine. Service was fine and maybe the pizzas are the best choice but we went with the lomito sandwiches and empanadas since the arrachera was not available. Okay if you need to just eat and medium prices.

El Pan Nuestro

Reviewed By Patricia867 - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

This place has great reviews, and I don't quite understand why...it is unbelievably pricey and the quality is so-so. The gift shop and market sells products you can buy at any local Superama in Mexico City, but with an upcharge at El Pan Nuestro! The bread is decent; not great. The food was blah; I had a salad that I could have made at home and my husband had an undercooked, bland steak with boring carrots, green beans, and rice. Unimpressive. The desserts are a bit better, but nothing to write home about. We were charged twice for the steak and the server disappeared after this blunder. We corrected the bill, but received no apology. I think this place is completely overrated and the high prices are paying for the owners to flatter themselves without reason.

La Veladora Restaurant & Bar

In the peninsula there is a road from Tijuana to La Paz: Between Neighborhoods and seas, ovens in Deserts scrubs like burners, you roast the clam Chocolata, the marlin is smoked, the Dinner guests rejoice. And today in the cool forest, under the Tepozteco guardian, in the restaurant La Veladora of Hotel Boutique Casa Fernanda we grind blue corn in the metate , we make the sauce in blackyard, oranges are perfumed with basil. We gave the seafood the taste of the mountain and the Tlacoyos, the smell of the sea. From the district peninsular to the Tepoztecan mountain range we bring flavors and very original creations which combine indigenous products of great quality and culinary sensibility that will make your tasting a trip. Moments of sensory experiences "The only Cava in Morelos 100% Mexican , which offers and exclusive selection of wines, Spirits, distillates, craft beer and water of national production .

We were sent here by the owners of La Gartija Mezcal Club and oh, what a great place! Dining is in a nice outdoor setting, but the food is what's so outstanding. We went here twice and the first night had a delicious pork rib dish with a dark mole sauce. Along with this we had the duck carnitas, which were moist and succulent. We also ordered the Cesar salad, made right at the table. Fantastic. The second night we had fish dishes: a wonderful grilled octopus and also a Baja style fish. There is a nice selection of wine, also. Wait staff are very professional. One of the nice touches is they grow their lettuce leaves right in the dining room, so the sous chef comes and picks them fresh right in front of you!
