Took my mother-in-law here for lunch and was just about to get up and leave as no one had approached our table after 20 minutes sitting there ( beer garden). Once served, the food and drink arrived quickly, in fact too quickly. My grilled Turkey steaks were tasteless and shared a plate with a limp salad. My mother-in-law had milzwurst (a type of deep fried sliced sausage) which looked greasy but she found it ok. The waitress was unfriendly and failed to make eye contact which made communication difficult.
Although I lived in Straubing 15 years ago, I was never in this restaurant because my husband would not go in. I always wanted to try it because the beer garden is always busy in the summertime. Now that I have, I won't be back.

The Italian food was the best we had in Europe. We lived in Bavaria for 6 months and ate here at least twice a week. The pasta is all made from scratch and the meals are like nothing you can get in the states. I DREAM of Cosimo's pasta!! I highly recommend this restaurant as our favorite in Europe!

Located on the beautiful Theresienplatz, Straubing's picturesque city square, Seethaler is an institution serving delicious food to locals and tourists alike. The restaurant interior is typical Bavarian style, making for an inviting ambiance. English speaking staff accommodates questions of foreigners with a smile, as they peruse the extensive menu of Bavarian specialties and international main courses. Prices are reasonable, portions are ample in size, and the food is excellent. One can not go wrong choosing the Restaurant Seethaler when in Straubing.

The restaurant manages to come with a modern Bavarian cuisine. The food was of very high quality, portions luckily remained old-fashioned big. the setting of the restaurant is very modern and appealing. Staff was very friendly and forthcoming. The price/quality ratio is very good.

Try the daily card for specials which are not normally available. The weissbier is from the local brewery, but other beers are available. I like pommes, (chips) and somehow most German restaurants always have small thin ones which are often already salted.

We came across this restaurant by chance one Thursday lunchtime and are so glad we did. It was absolutely heaving with several groups of people as well as couples and families.
The Quick Bites selection was very good and tasty. Food came quickly despite the lunchtime rush and each dish was only around 5€. We had gnocchi and gazpacho, both of which were excellent. They also do more substantial meals and delicious-looking cakes. One thing to note: they source their coffee locally, from Heinrichs in Hengersberg, and excellent coffee roaster which produces some excellent stuff.
It is easy to miss if you do not know the area and it is probably best to book in the colder months as the Seating inside is limited.
Try it!

If you visit Straubing then you must stop here and try the world famous Agnes-Bernauer-Torte. It is a layered cake filled with nuts and mocca butter cream. Heavenly! but extremely filling. I can also recommend the redcurrant meringue cake. Sit outside, have coffee and cake and watch the world go by.

Spotlessly clean hotel/restaurant which caters for large and small functions. The proximity to the local cemetry means that it is particulary handy for funeral catering.
The decor is a well balanced mix of modern and traditional and the layout provides opportunity for intimate as well as social dining. A long well stocked bar with lots of comfortable bar stools provides an ideal setting for those preferring to have a drink.
Staff were friendly and efficient and food served was of good quality. The meat is sourced from the owners butchers which is why meat features prominently on the menu.
Located near the train station and alternative transport links, means that the restaurant is easily accesable plus a walk to the centre of town is possible.
My friend and I had a lovely lunch here and I would not hesitate in recommending this restaurant to others.
