This, "the place of much water", is the Tsitsikamma Section of the Garden Route National Park, where Tsitsikamma Restaurant is situated. Tsitsikamma Restaurant is a glorious seafood eatery, contained by the Garden Route National Park. With a variety of dishes from traditional English breakfast & toasted sandwiches to burgers, pastas and steak, egg and chips however they put the most emphasis on their scrumptious seafood. Come try our Tsitsikamma Platter with ocean fresh fillet of hake, calamari, and a prawn skewer served with savoury rice and tartar sauce or our Fisherman's Platter with a prawn skewer, mussels in garlic sauce and fresh line fish, calamari, spicy rice & chips. The heartland of the park stretches some 5km to sea, protecting a wonderland of inter-tidal life, reef and deep-sea fish. Dolphins frolic in the breakers, Surfing and playing for the sheer joy of life, and the gentle giant of the ocean, the southern right whale visits here, coming inshore to breed. Tsitsikamma Restaurant is also a SASSI Aware participant which means they support sustainable and responsible fishing and seafood. The famous Storms River Suspension Bridge spans the river mouth. There is also the Natures Valley Rest Camp at Natures Valley. This is where the world renowned Otter and Tsitsikamma Mountain trails starts.
The restaurant building is to be rebuilt so we ate in the temporary/semi permanent marquee structure right down on the shoreline. With the high tide we had fantastic views of the nearby waves crashing in. Food was good and plentiful, especially after all the walking.

Proudly situated in the quaint village of Storms River, this onsite restaurant of the Tsitsikamma Village Inn itself, De Oude Martha restaurant promises garden views and hearty, South African meals during your stay. Surrounded by a wide veranda, looking out onto the Village square, the décor is the perfect blend of the village's old world charm with a modern day twist. We use fresh, often organic and local ingredients with fresh herbs from our garden mixed with a detail of love to create traditional meals. Cosy in winter and cool in summer, De Oude Martha has good food and friendly staff all year around. The doors are always open for you to experience the heart of this historic restaurant.
We ate here both nights of our 2 night stay at the Tsitsikamma Village Inn where the restaurant is located. Sitting outside on a warm evening we enjoyed lovely meals, good wine and friendly service - very reasonably priced too. Recommended.

Fynsboshoek is basically a cheese farm, but the farmer does lunches on his pretty verandah for a few people each day.
Lunch is simple. Cheese and rosemary balls followed by freshly baked foccacio, - and a cheese board of a selection of the delicious, organic cheeses produced on the farm with a green salad with leaves fresh from his garden.
He served a delicious light local white wine and by the time we left we were cheesed out but very happy.
You need to book and you need to experience this.

Lovely atmosphere and a roaring fire. Staff very friendly and efficient. Menu confusing as it includes Breakfast, light meals, salads, hamburgers, appetizers, mains and desserts. Appetizers disappointing - as there were only 3 choices - but all our mains were very tasty. Food prices very competitive and Wine prices are very cheap.

Having walked to the suspension bridge we were parched and headed straight here.
The location is right on the beach, close to the rocks. Just sit outside (or inside), and watch the waves, simply spectacular.
We ordered drinks and watched the Dassies feeding.
Bill was fine.
I watched as seriously good plates of food were brought out.
Jealous.
Go there, it’s worth it.

This is a lodge offering self catering or B&B accommodation and a private restaurant. Mike Williams is the owner and chef and welcomes non-residents to his restaurant but insists that a booking is made and an hours warning about the main choice from the menu. The menu is good with plenty of variety - written on a chalk board. We took a photograph in order to show another member of our party who was still at the Village Inn. We were given a very warm reception and the food was served promptly and was excellent. Good range of wines were available from a well stocked bar. (They plan to build their own pub in the near future). There was a very friendly atmosphere and we were soon in conversation with other diners and with Mike and his wife Louise. A lovely evening.

Home-made South African bistro fare, presented in an arty setting... indoor restaurant with fireplace (cosy in winter, cool in summer!), and outdoor Seating on patio overlooking magnificent Tsitsikamma Mountains. Or go "Al fresco" on wooden benches on the lawns, overlooking kiddies play area. Can seat maximum 50 guests in one go. Essential to make group bookings larger than 10 persons at least 24hrs in advance. Friendly service from a small happy staff producing great food in a small happy kitchen. There is an info centre on the premises to help you book your activities in the area. Enjoy your meal surrounded by works from local artists, and browse in the gallery while you enjoy a glass of wine from our superior wine lists. Local craft beers and various other drinks available... we serve the BEST coffee in the area!
We were planning on having our breakfast here, but unfortunately, our plans changed, so we landed up having lunch. The bistro was easy enough to find, with its bright red and yellow exterior...the welcome was warm and inviting. Although it was unseasonably cool for late November, we decided to forego the delight of the fireplace and sat outside on the verandah, where we marvelled at the wonderful view of the Tsitsikamma Mountains. Literature on the area and a pair of binocs were close at hand for use by patrons - a thoughtful touch!
The food was a bit of a let down, I ordered the cottage pie which was the speciality of the day and I was hoping that it was freshly made but alas, it had been frozen... the grainy thawed potato was a dead giveaway. The veggies though were freshly prepared and very tasty. My husband's fish fillet was suffering from freezer burn, but he did enjoy the salad.

Seated promptly. Menu small but plenty of pizzas to select from. Food came fairly quickly. Pizzas ok but not the best. Waited ages for plates to be cleared and menus offered- eventually went to ask. Restaurant not busy, just seemed muddled.
Pancakes with ice cream, bananas and home made caramel sauce-- pancakes very cold, and no sign of any sauce but nobody to refer this to.
Manageress(?) Seemed preoccupied with waving her boyfriend off, Reading newspaper, counting money in tips jar rather than sorting out the slow, muddled service.
Was cheap, but not very cheerful.

This restaurant is part of a larger spa complex located in a very quiet part of a small town. We were not staying at the spa, but upon the recommendation of our lodge decided to reserve a spot for dinner. The food and service were excellent. Our party of three had the ostrich bobootie, yellow clip fish and a prawn curry. All were very good. If close to Storms River during your travels along the Garden Route, would recommend it highly.
