We have visit the restaurant today June 4th with 3 friends. We all ordered different food and none of us was content. I had gnocchi which I expected to be made of potatoes but they looked like some pasta clumps. One of my friends had spaghetti carbonara and - they really didn't taste authentically (no Parmesan and no egg). Lasagna didn't taste right, the meat tasted weird. At least my friend who ate a broccoli soup was okay with it. The beer which they offer was good. Unfortunately it's not made there, but in the Czech Republic. Not to be so sceptic, the atmosphere wasn't bad.

We were introduced to Sotto by a Slovak friend who suggested we could do better than the usual restaurants we'd frequented for the past 9 years... good heavens, was he right!
To me, pretty much everything about this place is great: the unprepossessing approach belies the super Italian/Italianate restaurant therein. We have been here four times over the last couple of months and each time the experience has been great.
A couple of nights ago we took friends from London who were bowled over by the atmosphere, friendly service and great food.
We struggled to agree on a wine so were invited to scale the dodgy stairs down to the cellar and picked one for ourselves with advice from the charming waiter. This was a real treat - as was the wine - and it set the evening off on a great footing.
The food was good too! Although the menu changes regularly, look out for the home-made pasta with clams as a starter. I then had lamb cutlets - pretty much a rarity in this part of Slovakia - which were cooked beautifully.
Having just dropped our friends back to the airport, we will be back soon for more of the same. Whatever they served with the fresh pasta, I will have it!
This is a lovely and unpretentious restaurant.

Strictly old school. Ive been coming here for 20 years, these days not through any choice of my own, and it hasn't really changed that much. It's passable.

I visited in my first day there and then I didn't go to any other place. Excellent food (specially the meats), a lot of beers. Excellent service (the waiters speak english), good price. You can go alone, with your friends or with your girl. You can get beer direct in your table by an electronic tap.

In Spišská Nová Ves we had difficulty finding a restaurant that had an English menu.
We found Restaurant Spis which I noticed had good sized full meals in front of local diners. However, our ‘English’ menu had every component separate (meat, chips, salad, vegetables etc), this could be expensive to re-create the meals I saw on the plates! Our meal was very small and average to poor for the price & quality.
We noticed other large meals being served to other locals whilst we ate. You need to order Traditional Slovakian dishes.

In Spišská Nová Ves we went down the main street find a restaurants – there were a few but they all cater for external dining which means that you will be sitting among smokers. We chose El Ara as they had inside dining. When we approached the waitress and asked for a menu she simply said ‘No’ – the guy behind the bar also joined in (when we looked astounded) and re-iterated that there was no menu – they made no attempt to assist us and clearly wanted us to simply go away. So we did….
