We stumbled upon this restaurant following a morning exploring the local market. I'm so glad we did! The pizzas were beautifully cooked in their pizza oven, lovely thin base and fresh toppings. Very accommodating to our two children and our valiant attempts to speak French. No high chair available, but the owner did find a little booster seat for my son to sit on. Very fairly priced. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We went for lunch, and were the only diners. Sadly many items on the menu can only be ordered if the restaurant know 24-hours in advance, which does limit the menu somewhat, however if you do want naan bread or any thing from the tandoor oven you know to order in advance.
The meals are all made on demand so the service can be a little slow, but the waiter/owner was very friendly and attentive.
Compared with Anglo-Indian food, the menu was limited and the spice levels a lot lower - more suited to the French palate. The servings were all very generous so watch and don't over order.
The restaurant wasn't very warm, so on a cold day if there aren't many diners make sure you have warm clothes on! The decor is also rather dated and it's a bit dull on the inside.
They do not take plastic, so make sure you take cash with you.
Overall pretty good, better than average but not quite very good, 3.5 stars!
Compared with Anglo-Indian food it's also not bargain basement prices, it's not that it's expensive but it's not cheap.

I take full responsibility for selecting a tea room for lunch when two of us don't eat gluten. Okay, so we ended up with an 88 Euro tab for four and left hungry. It's a lovely little spot near the Cathedral with tables outside on nice days. The overflow crowd on the terrance must have taxed the kitchen because food took forever to come out. A guy at a table near us told the waiter he was almost out of time and had to eat immediately. They couldn't get his food out in time and he left about ten minutes later. Not a lot of English spoken...so bring your phrase book.

When travelling in France we have found that it is unwise to judge a restaurant by its exterior. That is true of this restaurant which is situated in a row of shops hidden behind some lace curtains next to a pizza takeaway but those people who go in will find excellent food.
Parking is available on street outside the restaurant. The parking meters in the area do not apply in the evening although there would be a parking charge for lunchtime.
Judging by some of the other customers the restaurant does a brisk trade in Pizza which it cooks out front in its own pizza oven but we setted for the set menu which offers much better value than the a la carte.
The service was excellent with a very nice lady and young waiting staff being so helpful and attentive without ever overstepping the mark to become a nuisance.
The restaurant has an English menu available if you ask for it and the staff spoke better English than my French so our meals had no surprises!
The rate of service was good with sufficient delay between courses so that we did not feel rushed but not long enough to get bored.
The house wine was 4 euros for a 25cc carafe. We had white and red and both were very drinkable.
There were set meal options at 18 and 23 Euros which offered starter, main course cheese and desert.
The starters were goats cheese on toast, abbey salad, snails, chicken liver salad, avocado and smoked duck fillet and scallops. The mains were scallops and pasta, beef steak in green peper sauce, escalope , salmon , and a white fish plus sauces.
I especially enjoyed the Scallops and Farfalles pasta in cream sauce which was excellent and my wife loved the escallope with a lovely shallot sauce.
Cheese was two small pieces of cheese with bread.
Desert was unoriginal - Ice Cream, crème brulee, chocolate mousse and ille Flottante but all were home made and very nice. A gourmand cafe was available which contained a small portion of all three.
For 18 euros the menu was excellent value and still good for the 23 euro. A few days earlier we paid more at one of the chain restaurants on the outskirts of town for a much worse meal.
As you will have realised the meal on our first visit was so good that we went back again and no doubt the restaurant will be on the list to visit if we go back to Soissons again

For me the most important thing with any business is customer service and it was outstanding. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with smiles and everyone was so helpful. Our waiter was a young man who was so attentive. I had a...Morethank you

Staying at the nearby motorhome aire, we were looking for a simple evening meal. As it was quite early we were the only customers to start with, but others arrived later.
The owner was very welcoming and there was a good selection of gallettes on offer. Can't remember exactly what we had, but it was well presented and went down well with a bottle of dry cider.
Certainly as good a creperie as we have experienced.

A real taste of fresh and local product. Front of the Abbey Saint-Jean des Vignes, in a comfortable sits and a welcoming spirit, the Relais des Vignes is a traditionnal restaurant which select local product and prepare it with sensibility. Not reserved to hotel customer, enjoy our terrasse and our bar.
This hotel restaurant seemed to cater for both hotel residents and locals (surely a good sign) and didn't disappoint. The presentation was thoughtful, food fresh and staff attentive and friendly.
Started with an amuse bouche of gazpacho, then fois gras / poached salmon followed by rack of lamb / lemon sole. Home made sorbet. Nothing to write home about but most welcome after a long drive.

We arrived in Soissons rather late on a Friday evening. After checking into our hotel, we set out to find a restaurant and stumbled upon this place. They have a raised patio dining area along the sidewalk, and we took a table there. Shortly after we ordered, a 3-person band began to perform in French and English for the guests. We soon joined the locals tapping out the rhythm with our fingers and feet.
When the food arrived, it was simple home cooking, but very good. The owner came over to our table (as he did the others) a couple of times during our visit to ask how everything was and he seemed genuinely concerned that his guests enjoyed their evening. On top of it, the prices seemed reasonable for what we ordered.
