A large, busy harbor doesn’t dampen the charm of Skagen’s older neighborhoods, which offer distinctive yellow houses, great museums, ceramic and glass art galleries, and bike rental outlets. Harbourside restaurants serve fish fresh off the boats. If you’re used to Caribbean beaches, this will take some getting used to, but we bet Skagen’s craggy charms will win you over.

Wonderful restaurant at the dock. The floor is sand from the dunes. Wonderful attentive staff. Great food, fresh produce. Only little minus I found the price a bit too high. But if you want a great evening and meal, this is it!

this is the little sister to the gourmet restaurant...dont know if the food is from the same kitchen, but it tasted great. Service was very friendly but fell short on a number of occasion. The main waiter didn't respect the line, but seated a couple arriving late, before all others? the wine was served in the wrong order, we had to ask several times for the bill and so on. The food was great and very tasty, but the service wasn't. And the noise was almost unbearable, small room, bad acoustics and lots of small children, screaming.
So all in all, lots of pros and lots of cons...the question is how much does the cons weigh? Ive decide that the food was the main thing and give 4 stars for this, service and the rest was 2 1/2

There isn't an English menu but between Google and the waitress we figured out what everything was we were ordering. We wanted dessert but the waitress never came back after she had delivered our food so maybe you're supposed to order it along with your meal? The food was good, meat and fish were very fresh, but the sauces were a bit bland. Nice interior. It's probably really nice to sit outside. Lively place, there were tons of people there at 8 pm when we were eating.

The view is nothing short of spectacular - 270 degrees of rough sea. That combined with very very good food, will combine to a unique dinning experience.

Very disappointed. Who serves about 9 French Fries to a steak tartare and charge you DKK 55 for a small plate of extra fries? Brøndums do. They also charge you DKK 60 for coffee - per person, which means that we paid DKK 240 for four cups of mediocre filter coffee. The cakes were supposedly home baked - but they certainly didn't match the price nor our expectations. Especially the house dessert, apple trifli was bad - no bite, no character.
Waitress was stressed and non-attentive. We had to call her over every time we needed something and sat forever with the menus and later with the dirty plates.
All in all very disappointing and a big waste of money.

The museum café Brøndums Havehus is located ih the museum garden behind Skagens Museum. The building was the first home of the artist couple Anna and Michael Ancher. The café is run by Brøndums Hotel and offers a selection of homemade pastries and light dishes for lunch.
Superb range of snacks and drinks, and a pleasant garden to eat them in. The cafe itself can get very crowded, so being able to use the garden is a a bonus. The cakes are well worth a journey!

Here we found what we where looking for.A danish restaurant where they offered plaice (flounder) very nicely fried. For fish lovers this is the best plaice we ever had,it was fresh bought, and of superior quality. As we drink redline to fish as well,we choose a Cabernet Sauvignon which went extremely good with the fish. The young waiter was very polite and did his best for us to enjoy our stay. The pace is situated in the Amaliegade 4,9900 Fredrikshavn. This is obviously the best place here!

The food was average or less, but there are large portions. The price is too high, compared too the best restaurants, like Brøndums Hotel Restaurant and their quality food.
The guests are primarily enthusiatic about the beer, which is fantastic. This is why this restaurant is so popular, combined with the frequently arranged live music, - and not because of the food.
I missed Væltepeter, my favorite, which obviously has disappeared from the beer sortiment. Skawskum is great too, but totally different from Væltepeter.

We were very surprised to hear that Malling & Schmidt took over after M. Michaud. A transition from classic french to modern nordic regional kitchen. Excited to experience this move we went for a dinner. Greeted by very polite service we had the menu. Quickly to starters were served - very nice and tasteful. Rest of menu were also of high standard and matching wine. However I did not see the barbaresco as perfect match for the duck. Finished of with ice rolled in "surdej" and various garnish - not seen before - but very good combo.
We can highly recommend this place if you look for modern Nordic cuisine.
