We enjoyed a late lunch at the museum's restaurant. It has a great view over the valley and is an important part of the "Museum for the Bread".
The buffet is about 10 meters long and has everythng one can wish for; hors d'oeuvres, fish, meat, vegetables and some really great desserts. Really yummie.
The service was quick and friedly.

lokales Restaurant in Manteigas Portugal, traditionelle portugiesische Küche
Weil alle anderen Restaurants im Ort zu waren, hat es uns hierher verschlagen;
Preislich ists natürlich spitze, so günstig isst man eher selten.

After a steep climb we arrived at an idyllic location near a river, a bridge and 9 small chapels: an amazing location. In a corner next to the bridge we found the tiny restaurante Margarida1.
We were the first guests that night at 20.00 h end of August. A quarter of an hour later arrived another 4 people.
We asked for 2 mains, wine and water. The waitress was a but pushy to advert more, but finally left us alone. The lamb was good, the bacalau (cod), floating in olive oil with boiled potatoes and a cut tomato very basic.
The ambiance is like a cave, authentic, open kitchen, and decorated with local issues. The Always present Television is ennoying and not essential: nobody looks at it.
The price/quality is okay.

Fantastic cuisine, I cannot find any other word to describe the food both ladies cook, and service this place offers. If you are in the neighbourhood make sure not to miss this place. Beware: the rations are huge !

The food was great and service was very efficient, friendly and warm. The waiters and owner were very friendly, the place was pitoresque and cosy and it's not very expensive. Sure hope to come back.

I got to know the place during a walking weekend in the Mountains. Great place to stay if you are planning to go through the "garganta de Loriga". The trail ends 20 meters away from Vicente.
Great local cuisine. House wine was very good.
An unexpected good surprise.

They have daily menus: very good and not at all expensive. Even the wine is more than ok! But... try the small rissóis, samosas, crockets, with a nice beer... wonderful. And try not to take the menu but some other (not so quick but very fresh) meals.... It's not incredibly cheap but... very good and simle food, with the tastes of the country.

We visited this restaurant on a Wednesday afternoon. The menu provided all the usual Alentejo meals but made with a special attention to detail and flavour. I had wild partridge with rosemary, roast chestnuts, chipped potatoes and apple puree .. all divine. My partner was feeling unwell and received a warm and helpful caring approach from both staff. It was his birthday and despite being unwell.. he was made to feel special. congratulations and thankyou to this gem of a restaurant in the quiet little village of estrela!

Have stayed 2 nights at the hotel related to a 7 days bike trip in Portugal and can only recommend the hotel!
Special in terms of absorbing local culture & design (Burel), providing local cuisine and great service by the staff (both reception, food & beverage, spa staff).
Felt at home and really like the natural materials used in the guest rooms, relax area, common rooms, dinner/breakfast rooms.
Definitely a hotel I'd return to! The staff is well trained, the cuisine is providing top-notch menus (both dinner, lunch & breakfast), great wine menu & all that in a very relaxed atmosphere! Don't forget to book a visit to the Burel factory downtown Manteigas - it's worth exploring the "old/new ways" of producing high quality wool products.
Highly recommended!

The quality and presentation of the dishes are good but something stands out : the clients are from the nearby H2otel . They do not have as clients the local people.
There is only one reason for this : the prices charged .
As I mentioned at the beginning of my review, the food has quality but the prices are similar to the neighboring H2otel restaurant.
This restaurant caters only for tourists not for the local people .
Good food, good atmosphere but expensive.
