This restaurant is located a short distance from the hotel of which it is part. It has an attached bar and garden area, including childrens play area. It is sited with views right over the cliffs and sea beyond. Stupendous. In decent weather you could eat outside.
The food is lovely. We ate off the restricted 'half board' menu which gave a good choice and was all superbly delivered and presented. Gourmet food; good wines; fair prices. Exquisite.
Service was friendly but effective and thoughtful.
It was made clear that they would cater around any food preferences or allergies but I feel that the standard menu should always offer vegetarian options, especially somewhere aiming for such a high standard as this. But that is my only comment

Stopped here for lunch on recommendation of tour guide when on private taxi tour of island. Sat out on the Terrace under sun umbrella and enjoyed the views. Had a fresh tuna salad and tasty garlic bread. Leisurely lunch. Good service and well priced. Plan to eat here again...on my next holiday.....

Nice restaurant, with tasty dishes, and probably the best picanha we had during our stay. The place is decorated with traditional furniture in dark wood, with a nice fireplace in the middle of the dining room. The service was very attentive. Medium prices. We Thank you very much for your Visit !! We hope to see you Soon. Our best regards

Cantinho da Serra is an attractive broader Iberian style menu, rustic restaurant located near the famous Salinas salt mines. It's attractively varied within and has accumulated both Michelin and TA awards for its cuisine. We (four in luncheon party) lost our usual discipline a bit and accepted some of the for a price offered appetizers: tasty chicciarones pork rinds, mix of sliced salute, procsciutto and melon, and an uncooked pork fat (hard to imagine who likes this last bit).
Our beverages included table red wine, water and one iced tea.Our orders were all excellent and of generous portion, of a quality where we each agreed we would have individually been content to have ordered any of the dishes chosen: bean and tripe stew, roasted skewers of pork and beef, rice seafood with shellfish and white fish and an order of four delicious grilled lamb chops. As a table, we ordered a large midges, seasoned chopped mustard greens mixed with cornbread and chopped cabbage couve-so very tasty.
For dessert, we shared cinnamon rice pudding, six individually jarred fruits in syrups. The total bill came to 88 euros, not unreasonable for the atmosphere and overall high standard, but a bit beyond our usual output for relatively similar satisfaction.
Bottom line, we'd surely return and skip some of the unneeded accessories for better value.

We stoped here for late lunch on a trip around the east of the island. Friendly helpful staff. We sat outside on the Terrace, which overlooked the road but this was very quiet and so didn’t matter. The food (soup, bread and a pork, chorizo, clam stew) was tasty and good. Good price and good service.

Very good food on good portions, and very traditional space. Perfect to eat when is cold outside while enjoying good traditional food from the island. I would suggest "Sopa de Tomate" (Tomato Soup).

We called at this restaurant while on a East of Madeira Tour organised by Travel with Us. Lunch was not included in the Tour Price. Every aspect of the 3 course Meal with Wine and water exceeded expectations with wonderful staff and the best Scabbard Fish we had in any restaurant on this trip to Madeira.

We stopped here for lunch as part of an East Madeira day tour (8 persons).
We had to select in advance and our driver phoned our choice ahead. there was a soup and traditional bread starter, then a choice of Beef skewers, grilled chicken or scabbard fish (with or wwithout banana) followed by passionfruit pudding or chocolate mousse. Drinks, wine and water were included or beer or soft drink if you prefer.
All the food was homemade and freshly cooked. It was served with salad and large quantities of chips, rice and potatoes.
The owner said if we wanted more just to ask. Re the beef she said it could be cooked some more if it was too rare.
Everyone enjoyed their choice at this local restaurant which was excellent value for money.
The typical straw thatched roof houses are nearby.
