Set on the Gulf of Tigullio between Rapallo and Portofino, the resort/fishing town of Santa Margherita Ligure really couldn’t be in a better neighborhood. Fashionable but much quieter than Portofino, life in Santa Margherita Ligure centers around the lovely palm-laden harbor, where boating and simple sunning are the orders of the day. The town has some good shopping options, lovely cafes and interesting sights like its 16th-century castle and the 17th-century Basilica di Santa Margherita.

Nothing to write home about! Gnocchis were mediocre and the sole was not much better. There are much better places around.

Tucked away on a quaint little street is this superb restaurant. The service is impeccable, the staff is very attentive, well informed about the dishes, the ingredients and wine selection. We ordered the risotto as a starter which was a rich combination of flavours. On top of the risotto is a dollop of whipped Parmesan cheese in a crusty Parmesan shell! As a second dish we ordered the pistachio encrusted tuna. It melted in our mouths and freshly caught that day. Finished off with tiramisù! We also had a bottle of Nostralino from Portofino, a perfect pairing.
We'll be back!

Having seen other reviews and finding ourselves in the area around lunchtime, we sought out this beautiful little place near the port. We were warmly welcomed by Matteo, who provided us with excellent, friendly service and pleasant conversation. For a primi, we had small meat ravioli with porcini mushrooms--the best pasta dish that we had on our trip (and that is saying something). My wife had lobster/langosta and I had the pork shank. Both were excellent. The pork shank was an extremely large portion, perfectly cooked. Good house red, Montelpulciano di Abruzzo, and some limoncello rounded out what turned out to be one of our favorite lunches in Liguria. Would highly recommend.

My wife and I were fortunate enough to both visit Rapallo and eat at Rocco's. Both proved to be fabulous! Great service and an excellent meal. I think the waiting staff appreciated that they had a couple of people who had done joie de vivre about them- they fed of us and we feed off them. Everyone was a winner!

Every day we offer you our traditional Genovese cuisine. We believe firmly in the roots of our land sharing dishes that best characterize our culture. "Old" recipes prepared in the traditional manner with absolutely genuine, fresh ingredients of high quality are carefully presented to your table by the Pezzi Family that over the years, continues to maintain and offer the old traditions of Genoa, as they once were ... Every weekday the menu that you find written on the board, recommends a variety of dishes based on seasonal products.
Lovely, unassuming restaurant with very friendly proprietor. Exactly what we wanted, no super creamy high end food, just fantastically fresh ingredients cooked beautifully. Best food we have had so far I Italy and very highly recommended.

Traditional Ligurian restaurant, located in the historical center of the town in a beautiful square. Tipical and local food, fresh pasta home made, fresh salads, bruschette, beef fillet steak, fresh fish everyday, vegetarian and gluten-free menu. Good wine, beer, sangria and cocktails!! Book now is better
The location is excellent just off the harbor front downtown near the Cathedral. This is a romantic elegant restaurant.
The service was a bit slow but the biggest problem was the wine. After a fairly involved conversation, the most expensive Rosesse (sp?) was recommended to me. At about $55US a bottle, i expected it to be quite good. However, When opened, it appeared to me that the wine was simply too young, with tannins so strong they made you wince. I am no wine expert, but always have a glass at home and always order a bottle when out. This was simply a bad bottle of wine. I told the waitress it wasn't to my liking, but she said (in effect) well it's opened now so you bought it. OK, I did drink it, as the wine was a little better when it was cooled down from room temperature (at my request she brought an ice bucket) and allowed to open up a bit, but it was still bitter.
Dinner was OK, but honestly the wine experience ruined it for me.

Happened upon this restraurant by sheer chance. We're looking for somewhere for a lazy lunch and this was perfect! Great setting along the water side , lots of people watching. Fresh seafood, menu a bit confusing but staff helped us out with choices. Even suggesting excellent local wine to go with our lunch. Mussels , and baked fish with olive oil and potatoes! Brilliant!!
